Hello, I'm new to the world of linux and just found out about these console programs.

fbi - open images in console
fbgrab - take a snapshot
fbgs - open *.pdf documents in console

So i tried them out and none works as they should:

[paullik@localhost ~]$ fbi pic.png
using "DejaVu Sans Mono-16", pixelsize=16.67 file=/usr/share/fonts/TTF/dejavu/DejaVuSansMono.ttf
ioctl VT_GETSTATE: Invalid argument (not a linux console?)
[paullik@localhost ~]$ fbgs document.pdf

### rendering pages, please wait ... ###

ioctl VT_GETSTATE: Invalid argument (not a linux console?)
[paullik@localhost ~]$ fbgrab con.png
Converting image from 16
Now writing PNG file

So in gwenview I can see the pic.png, in Okular I can read document.pdf -but you can see what errors i get when i try to open them in console.

And about fbgrab, it grabs my console but the image looks like that:

1278146320.png

Its the same if its *.jpg or whatever...

I'm running Mandriva 2009.1 Spring, x86.

Thanks in advance!

The problem was that i was typing those commands in terminal and they must be typed in TTY1/2/3..., using CTTRL + ALT +F1/F2/F3...

Added [solved].
