  1. Easiest is to install the Linuxant wrapper and you should be sorted within a few minutes. Its free for a few weeks then its $20 or somrthing - works with my Netgear WG311 PCI card
  2. I don't think this topic has been on this forum before. Will a wireless LAN card in my desktop be picked up and installed when I install mandrake? What card has the best chance of being picked up? What are people's experiences with wireless PCI cards? or :D
  3. What about DVB cards? Anyone using one of these?
  4. I use the urpmi method but keep getting the message: Installation failed: glibc_lsb is needed by lsb-1.3-6.1mdk XFree86-libs == 4.3-5mdk is needed by XFree86-devel-4.3-5mdk How do I fix this? Tried getting XFree86-libs 4.3-5mdk and the glibc-lsb rpm installing them to var/cache/urpmi/rpms/ but still same message.
  5. Tried booting without USB devices but still the same.
  6. I wait up to 10 minutes before turning power off.
  7. Thanks for answering. Had Mandrake 9.1 running fine but thought I would install 9.2 fresh. Asus P4PE mainboard Seagate Barracuda HDD Leadtek Winfast Ti 4200 video card The only differences between this setup and my initial 9.1 setup are: Asus USB 6 in 1 card reader which I thought was the problem but still had trouble when I disconnected it Nebula Digital TV card (BT 878 chip) Sony Ericsson P800 USB cradle for my new phone. Could it be one of these that is doing the dirty on me?
  8. Installed Mandrake 9.2 several times and after installation the initial boot fails always after grinding to a halt with "Building Window Manager Sessions" Anyone had similar? Same on a failsafe boot Is this a hardware problem?
  9. Trying to get my Nebula TV PCI card to work http://www.nebula-electronics.com/informat...o.asp?Code=0001 but need to setup to connect to CVS tree and make sure my kernel has the necessary stuff enabled. Can anyone explain how to do these two things? You must have the kernel sources for the kernel you are actually using installed, and symlinked to /lib/modules/$(KERNEL_VERSION)/build. Otherwise, change the path for KERNEL_LOCATION in DVB/driver/Makefile. - Make sure that your kernel has enabled: Video4Linux Support (CONFIG_VIDEO_DEV) needed by cards with integrated MPEG decoder to display video on screen Input Core Support (CONFIG_INPUT) Event Device Support (CONFIG_INPUT_EVDEV) needed by the DVB remote control driver Thanks :?:

  11. Do I need to recompile the kernel? Is there anyway I can do it from within KDE or Gnome? :?
  12. Have an Asus multicard reader (CF,smartmedia, memory stick) - is it possible to use it in Mandrake 9.1? Have looked at linux-usb.org but it is a bit beyond me.Here is the info: C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=40 MxPwr= 0mA I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=hub E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) 13. Just associate the files ending in .torrent in konqueror with the btdownloadgui.py or whatever script you want to use. That way after downloading the torrent script clicking on it will start up the bit torrent gui :D
  14. .............is not immediately obvious.Have the rpms from texstar but cannot see how to get the python script to run when clicking a torrent hyperlink. Anyone doin' it?
  15. MottS - I followed your instructions...............and that takes us back to my original post - no further forward! How do I get that mdk.rpm package to install? :?:
  16. So I use the -ivh appended to the install command to get this to install? Will let you know how I get on...
  17. Works fine with everything else so why should it just be this RPM? :?:
  18. Tried both those before posting and they didn't fix things unfortunately..... :x
  19. What am I missing here? I downloaded the java vm rpm from Sun's site and when I try to install it I get the console message: unable to take medium "Updates for Mandrake Linux 9.1 (ftp1u)" into account as no list file [/var/lib/urpmi/list.Updates for Mandrake Linux 9.1 (ftp1u)] exists Everything already installed How can I sort this out? Thanks
  20. urpmi wasn't working so I emptied /var/lib/urpmi and need to reintroduce software sources to update from.In particular the CDs.I am aware of the page: http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon/urpmiweb.php but want to add the CDs to the URPMI archive. Regards :?:
