  1. Make sure anything onboard the MB not used is turned off in the bios. Make sure the motherboard is not set to share vidio memory. Make sure the drive jumpers are set correctly(shooting inthe dark on this one)

Make sure on install you make a user+password and root+password.

If logging in as a user doesn't work try logging in as root.

  2. I'm sorry to say buts its not uncommon for a purchased box set of Mandrake to be bad. My best recomendation would be to check and see if the disks work on another cd drive. This way you rule out any hardware problems.

As for getting a good copy of the disks, the fastest way if you can't take them back to the place you got them personally, would be to just download the ISO's for 9.2 and burn them yourself.

Make sure you burn the ISO's at the slowest speed you can. This just makes a better burn. If you try installing 10 a few times and you are getting errors on the same packages each time then I would say its a bad download, burn or media. If your getting errors on different packages each try then I would say a hardware problem. Run a memcheck or switch out the cd drive.

If your overclocking cut it back to the normal speed settings and try again.

  3. Who told you to install via the windows OS?

What security level are you setting things at?

You should be able to see exactly what file the install hangs on during a text install. At best you might even get an error message.

Tell the best you can about you hardware and the exact order of you install steps or problems you get. The more info you give the better. There is never to much info.

Did you run a md5sum on the ISO's before burning and did you burn them as slow as possible?

  4. None of my ancestors were even here at the time. We left revolutions, famine and unemployment back on the European continent at later dates. Not much later mind you.

I think it was even less than 1/3 support for the revolution. It was the middle 1/3 of undecideds that let it happen from inaction that made the difference.

And your right a revolution with only 1/3 support would be unconstitutional. The problem was we had no constitution yet. Revolution with so little support might be unconstitutional but secession would be constitutional.

  5. How do you select your highest judges now? Honest question since I just don't know.

Since our supreme court is selected for life there really is no way to tell what judges will be replaced by what president. Approval by congress is a nice check system for federal judges, but yes it does get political when it is thought that judges can change law by a new interpretation of an old one. That is not really their job. And since no judge (even the supreme court) can change anouther judges dicision untill its officially brought before them it sometimes takes quite a while for a "rogue" judge to be brought under controle.

I haven't heard of and British judges ( the local county court variety) reinterpreting your laws like they do in a few of ours. Maybe we should be moving towards your legal system instead.

Fought a war to get away from you only to find out you were right in the end. DAMN!!!! :D
