Thanks heaps! I got KDE working again. Why would it just make changes like that for no apparent reason? Oh and I got the cd rom issue sorted as well, so once again thanks for your help arctic.

Yeah when I used the eject thing I unmounted it but it was telling me that it was busy and that it could not do it.

Hi Ive recently installed Mandrake 10.0 official and everything was going great until today when I was trying to move my back up MP3s onto my hard drive. Basically every time I put in a new disk the display just had a bunch of %3F signs. I discovered that if I right clicked on the cdrom icon that I could eject them and this worked fine the first time then each time after that it would just say eject /dev/cdrom failed anyway so now comes the real big problem. Now when I boot into Linux It doesn't go to kde any more it is just a black screen.
