In this file /etc/X11/XF86Config-4, there is a section about your mouse. Mine reads:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"
EndSection
Post what yours says.

As william stated, there are more than one post about this topic. To help, thought, we need to have more information. What kind of mouse do you have? Explain what is happening (if anything). The more information you give, the easier it is to help.

Valavien,
Great link, thanks.

Yes, the 5002FX has video in. Today, I'll go to a couple of computer stores to see what is available.

At the computer store today, I found a Nvidia GForce 5002 FX. How does that sound? Will it work well?
Kieth

Thanks everybody. I guess a Nvidia is a good choose.

Go into MCC, then press 'Boot', then 'Boot loader'. Next, press 'next'. Then you will see the list you are looking for. Choose what you do not want, then press 'remove'.

Put the settings on the hard drives like they were when you installed linux. Then insert your Mandrake disk 1, go into 'rescue', and have it re-install your boot loader.
When you installed Mandrake, it should have automatically recognized Win98. Then when you re-booted, it would give you a choose as to which OS you wanted to inter into. After you installed, what happened?

Thanks for the advice. About the VCR hookup, I just want to watch movies on my computer, using the VCR. Since I read the post here almost everyday, it seems that a lot of people have problems with the nvidia cards. Is this true? Infact, I thought it would have been one of the cards listed to avoid. Instead, it is recommended!

I've decided to buy a new graphics card, which also has a connection for a VCR, but I would like advice on which ones to consider, and which ones to avoid.
I am running a Pentium III 700mg, with 256 Ram.
Thanks,

kppp has that option.

Go into your Mandrake Control Center (System - Configuration - Configure you computer). Enter your password. Choose Hardware. Choose Screen resolution. Choose another resolution and press OK.

Oops. Make that a Millennium G400 16Mb SDRAM, made by Matrox.

No, I do not have an ATI video card, but Matrox G400.

wait! So? The mouse is there......just not seen?.....and changing mouse themes enables it to be seen in X? Isn't that the noswcursor option, or whatever in XF86Config-4? (on win2k right now so I can't look at man XF86Config)
Oh, bvc, I forgot to mention, that I do not know what option you are talking about. If this will resolve my problem, I will do it immediately.

bvc, I have always had this problem. Yes, the mouse is there, I can use it, I just can't see it. I wish I knew how to resolve the problem permanently. Actually, even with new themes, the problem still exists in some applications. mplayer, for instance. If I pass the mouse over mplayer, while there is a film running, the mouse disappears. With totem, there is no problem. In fact, just the other day, I wrote for help in the section on "games" to resolve it.
I learned about www.kde-look.org when I wrote in this board, asking for help. I have tried mousedrake (even with Mandrake 10, I tried it, but. . . .), I have edited the scripts, etc., but no luck. Adding a new mouse theme is the only way I have been able to resolve the problem.
york, there is no mouse theme especially for ps2. I use a ps2 wheel mouse. In mousedrake, it never, never, never chooses it correctly, but with a new mouse theme, installed the way it states on www.kde-look.org, it works. Choose whatever theme looks interesting to you. With Mandrake 9.2, I was using a "green" theme. Now I am using a "tux" theme. The hard part about installing a mouse theme, is not having a mouse. It's a challenge, but worth it.

For some unknown reason, Mandrake has never recognized my mouse. Therefore I have to always download and install new mouse themes. Go to the site www.kde-look.org, download the mouse theme that you would like, and then follow the instructions to load them.

Just wondering what I could do to resolve my mouse problem. In some games, I cannot see it. It's there, and it works, I just can't see it. For instance, with "Bugsquash", I can squash bugs, I just can't see the mouse. Anyway to resolve it?
Thanks,
Kieth

I created the problem. java script:emoticon(':woops:') I was finally able to resolve it. I renamed the file kontact to kontact-old. The conflict was a file in that file.
Thanks for the reply, though. I do appreciate it.

I created a conflict with Kontact. java script:emoticon(':woops:') Below are the messages I receive when I start it up in terminal. I do not understand where the problem is, or how to resolve it. Any help would be appreciated. I presume the problem is with QListView, whatever that is. I tried to find this file, but to now luck.
Thanks,
Kieth

I know that I need to kill a certain PID when the urpmi is locked. The only problem is that I do not know how to tell which PID is using the urpmi. Below is what I have. Which one is being used by urpmi?
Thanks

Try going into MCC - Hardware - Hardware. Then choose your video driver on the left side of the window (where all your hardware is listed). Then on the bottom right, choose "Run config tool". See if this helps.
