I have 10.1 (fresh OE install) and I can burn .iso images without problems.
Didn't have any problems on 10.0 too

What's wrong with the regular tar.gz package?

hi there!
When I ran configure on the latest stable Fluxbox-0.1.14
or the newest devel version 0.9.10 , I got this error line
configure: error: Fluxbox requires the X Window System libraries and headers. In configure log file (0.1.14) I came upon this
configure:8515: checking for X configure:8617: g++ -E conftest.cc configure:8613:27: X11/Intrinsic.h: No such file or directory configure:8623: $? = 1 configure: failed program was: #line 8612 "configure" #include "confdefs.h" #include <X11/Intrinsic.h> configure:8674: g++ -o conftest -g -O2 conftest.cc -lXt >&5 configure:8656:27: X11/Intrinsic.h: No such file or directory configure: In function `int main()': configure:8666: error: `XtMalloc' undeclared (first use this function) configure:8666: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each function it appears in.) configure:8677: $? = 1 configure: failed program was: #line 8655 "configure" #include "confdefs.h" #include <X11/Intrinsic.h> #ifdef F77_DUMMY_MAIN # ifdef __cplusplus extern "C" # endif int F77_DUMMY_MAIN() { return 1; } #endif int main () { XtMalloc (0) ; return 0; } configure:8721: result: no configure:9687: error: Fluxbox requires the X Window System libraries and headers.
I'll take a blind shot in a herd and say that this isbecause of Xorg
so, how to overcome this and install Fluxbox on my box?
I'd prefer it to be a source, not some .rpm solution, because I have tested an rpm from http://rpm.pbone.net/ and Fluxbox had problems logging out (exit). It just froze with my mouse free to wander. So it would be good if I could configure it on my box.

"it pains and stings"
3 weeks? damn it
oh well...

I like 10.0 a lot better.
I've used MDK 9.1 ; 9.2. ; 10 Community and now 10.0 Official
and 9.2 was the buggiest of them all
so I advice 10.0 // it really was a pleasant surprise for me
p.s. watch out for 10.1 being released to the public in a few weeks.
-
yeah, you are right. It would be dangerous.
I'll try to borrow a large enough hdd from some friend then.
Just thought there can be another way out of this, but it seems there isn't.

The problem is I have no Windows partition. Those 3 FAT partitions are from the days long ago when I still had windows. :(
And those partitons have become dead slow.....
Of course I could back them up and change to ext3, but those are 120gb and I have no dvd burner

9.2 for me was the worst
I started with 9.1
10.0 seems the best
I've yet to try 10.1

and all these studies tell about switching to Linux,
so to me it seems a sane choice to already start with Linux!
-
yeah, probably is my end problem

I have a simmilar problem. due to some tinkering and a disasterous error on the windows side the windows is gone since mid may. I can not install another windows on this box anymore. format washed all the winerror pain away, but I desperately want to play some games.. so now my top priority is to get a new pc and shape it into a windows based game console. don't have the money though :(
p.s. transgaming (cedega) just isn't there yet

Hi, have you tried vmware-any-any-update83. I had sim probs, then d/l'ed this from VMware & all was well...
oh, YES, thank you, thank you, thank you :D :D
it works now
I had no idea of this patch existing
thanx!!
p.s. although for some strange reason
[user@localhost vmware-any-any-update84]$ vmwareXlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0
but it works with root, so all is good
I think it has to do smthing with me messing with XF86Config-4 to get my radeon drivers working

Hey!
I know that Linux partitons generally don't need a defrag, but I have 3 mounted FAT partitions and I'm sure that they need to be defragged,
so is there any defragmentation software on Linux and if there is, which is the best?
thanx!

I second that! Most of my annoyance with Mandrake comes from poor USB support.
-
know what's weird...
I've done 3 kernel updates and each time vmware says that I need to compile my own kernel because the kernel source is not equal my running kernel
the last which worked for me was some 2.6.3-2 I think
p.s. all kernel updates and source downloads done through urpmi
-
I second that! I really need it!
mmmmmm, Mandrake
-
hacking doesn't bother me anymore... not after I had to put on the drivers for the first time on this box
I rewrote/heavy edited entire sections of XF86Config-4
I know I know, I'm -> , but I always get very frustrated when I hear/read the phrase "ATI drivers"
thnx for your reply, aRTee

p.s. how will it be with xorg and ati 3d acceleration drivers?
p.p.s. I know, I knwo, I should get nvidia asap
-
how is 3d ati and nvidia support for xorg?

Ubuntu vs Mandrake
in Everything Linux
Posted
I hate Gnome, Ubuntu logo and their philosophy behind.
But what I'd want in Mandrake is apt-get
