  1. in the details list, i does not seem to list the same things that are in my columns those are for the "Detail view" i am using the "info list view".....

oh and is there a way to save the way the view is? so that next time i navigate to that folder it is the same way (aka the info view, instead of it switching back to default?)

  2. ill try both, (ill open 5900 and 5901) the question is when i go to my other computer, i address mycomuter withi its ip address + what? i know befor i put the firewall up i would do:

    192.168.1.500:1

    but now should i do

    192.168.1.500:5901

    -or-

    192.168.1.500:5900

    which ever works?

  3. ok i know this is going to be real noobie of me but,

ok in the pic i circled the bar that i am talking about, i want to get rid of some of the sections like the year column and the genre column, how do i do this, i tried rt clicking on it nothing (windows habit), is there a way to edit what columns are on there?

  4. i have not tried it your way Godflesh but i did do it my way, and i have 5 diff mirrors for each thing (main, contrib, updates, plf) then hehehe (eventhough i am using mandrake 10 CE i told easy urpmi that i am using mandrake 10 OE, so i can get all the good updates)

  5. ok i made a new link on my desktop to /usr/bin/xmms and it works great wav and mp3 work fine, i am going to go see what the link was to in the startmenu

ok i took a snapshot of it, on the left is the start menu link properties, on the right is my link, what is the diff? (the diff is that mine works :lol2: )

  6. ok this is strange i opened from the terminal, navigated to /usr/bin then i typed xmms,

this started XMMS, then i open an mp3, and clicked play and everything worked great, sound, everything, Nothing crashed, so i closed that, then i clicked on the shortcut in the start menu (i dont know what you call it so i had to use the windows name) xmms opened up, i clicked to the same mp3 file and added it to the play list, and xmms crashed? this is vodoo!!!!!! i will try to create a new link on my desktop to /usr/bin/xmms

  7. yes, my sound card works fine with it,

my mp3s are on my other harddrive, and Noatun (another program) can play them all..

no i have not run the program from a terminal, what command do i issue ( do i navigate to /usr/bin/xmms-orwhatever the name of the xmms executable is?

  8. can i go through and get every mirror on the list? i know that it is possible, i just use the script that it provides at first FOR EXAMPLE :

if it gives me this as my updates source,b/c i select that ftp mirror the first time:

    urpmi.addmedia --update updates ftp://mirror.aca.oakland.edu/linux/mandra...dates/10.0/RPMS with ../base/hdlist.cz

but then lets say that i wanted to get an additional mirror for update i would just have to change the name "updates" to something like "updates2" right? like this:

    urpmi.addmedia --update updates2 ftp://ftp.rutgers.edu/pub/Mandrakelinux/o...dates/10.0/RPMS with ../base/hdlist.cz

can i do this in order to have a larger list of sources?

  9. i didnt, i uninstalled those, and installed the ones you gave me, the mdk 1.2.10

on the message where you said follow these steps, i went and did exactly that and it still crashes and will not let me play mp3s, i have all the packages that you said to have

    [david@localhost david]$ rpm -qa | grep xmms
    xmms-1.2.10-1mdk
    xmms-diskwriter-1.2.10-1mdk
    xmms-smpeg-0.3.5-3mdk
    xmms-cdread-0.14a-4mdk
    libxmms1-1.2.10-1mdk
    [david@localhost david]$

  10. Halting system....

    md: stopping all md devices.

md: md0 switched to read-only mode.

    Power down.

this is exactly what my comp says, i just press the power button, i dont think that it crashes there, that is just the way it does it, but i rarely ever have to shut the comp off

  11. hmmm, now all i want here is different screensavers, i dont want to change from using KDE control, also i would like to learn how to configure my desktop to look really neat, like with transparent buttons and taskbars, and other things, here is a snapshot of my desktop (look below) you see how the open windows have that white background? well i want to make that transparent, and the buttons, those too i will go look around on KDE-looks.org and see if they have any good themes
