  1. Hi all, any one give a suggestion to fix, I downloaded the new kernel, although I know that you don't have to keep up to the bleeding edge with Linux, I just could not help myself, anyway now on reboot into the new kernel 2.6.3.14, i get a kernel panic, no init, I can boot into 2.6.3.11 and that is ok.

    My question is

    1. what went wrong,

    2. how do i put it right

  2.   Mandrake has a long history of always giving out iso's for download, I think in time they'll release it

I think you are probably right, although as club members we have been awaiting the torrent for a month and have just got it now, RC1 is really too buggy if a good platform is needed.

  3. Radeon 32 bit drivers are incompatible with 64 bit mdk 10, the torrent for final mdk amd64 is available to silver club members, I dont think it is going to be made available to non memebers without paying, fedora core 64bit is free and available for download now, on the radeon front the drivers should be available by end of the year, (I bought ATI as well for 64 bit box thinking they were open source duh!) but are available from their web site for xp now.

  4. I am using Thunderbird and firefox, because I prefer there customisation, what I want to be able to do it set both as the default email/browser defaults on my box (mdk 10oe) then I want to set the default in a hacked version of Linspires Lphoto so the email client is thunderbird no moz messanger, I have had a play around but no luck to date. Any clues where to start?

  5. Spymac hasn't worked for me, I tried it after I saw your post, large storage etc, but recognised by most other email providers as spam (SPYmac..!!) very poor hit and miss when sending mail, would only ever let send to self on a regular basis, so ditched and moved to mailcan.

  6. I had this issue when I booted with my webcam in a usb at the back of my box, I lost all sound then managed to reinstall the driver and sound restored but not on the splash screen initiation, then the whole system started going down, first xfree, so had to xlfconfig drivers again against kernel source, in the end the whole thing went very weird and had to do a full reinstall and leaving the webcam for win xp. :wall:

  7. dont install hotwayd or hotsmtpd from plf, download the gz file from source forge, you will need to preemp by installing from package manager the gcc compiler, xml2 packages, cyrus packages (infact anything listed under sals and xml) then

    tar -xzvf hotwayd.........

    cd hotwayd.......

    ./configure

    then make

you should get a reply saying possible to make hotwayd and hotsmptd

    su

    pswd

    make install

    make clean

    reboot

    netstat -lp

look for port 2500 and pop3 both listening then we are nearly there

change ownership of the etc file, add the hotsmptd.xinetd and hotwayd.xinetd scripts to etc (ensure you edit to put the correct path of your hotwayd and hotsmptd application icons in the file all this started and then chown etc back to root

    reboot

add account to firefox or what ever, host for pop and smpt is 127.0.0.1, port for pop is 110 and for smpt is 2500

    hey presto email.

  8. I built my box, and tried to install rc1, constantly recieved errors while trying to install to 250g sata drive on promise. Just before final configuration it would shut itself down. I have reinstalled 10ce for now, do I have a bad copy downloaded. Is there a fix or is this because the cooker version is not fully supportive.

Is there going to be a mdk 10 amd64 official download as there will be with mdk 10?

  9. Just built a new box, cooler master pretorian, radeon 9600, amd 64 3200, 1024 ddr400, qt8 board, 250g sata drive, tdk multiformat -/+ r/rw,

about to install mdk 10 amd 64 rc1, I will let you know the results, linux format ran a clock test on mdk 9.2 for the 64 and mdk 10 ce, 9.2 romped home against there benchmark machine.

  10. Hi all, I am a noobie learning fast, managed to get limewire up and running, now I want to install a specific Radeon 9600 driver I downloaded from ATI, it is the Linux version as RPM, yet when I try to install I get the following;

    Installation failed:

file /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2 from install of fglrx-4.3.0-3.7.6 conflicts with file from package libxfree86-4.3-30mdk

does any one have any idea....?
