well... cause of all this vmware internet things, I wasn't able to correctly play online some games so I uninstalled every internet protocol and stuff like that regarding vmware. It's that important too... yes it would be nice to have it, but, I don't really care... I'll probably install gentoo later but in some real hdd partitions with no emulation, so things will work a little better :) thank u all though...

btw, when I said this, I mean, it doesn't work at all with the isp servers, but configured like before (first dns server = my router's ip) it works partially... I can ping some serveres like www.google.com but not the dns? I get no response...

^doesn't work.. I don't get it. I can ping www.google.com but I can't view it with konqueror or Mozilla, it just doesn't open. (timeout)

what dns server ips? that nslookup windows function will gave me the ip 192.168.0.1 and I didn't get this: "the icon to the right of make a new connection" that's what I just did before you replyed, I told that on my previous post right before yourse...

ok, after thinking a bit, I decided to delete the connection and create a new one forgetting that I was in linux and just reading the text and using my knowlodge of networking, tried to configure it and I think I got something - see attached. But I tried to access www.google.com for instance but didn't work, the output on the browser was:

yes, my router supports dhcp, in windows everything is working fine and I manually configured everything. in linux, I didn't touch anything regarding network stuff.

I have succesfully installed Mandrake 10.1 with VMware 5 on my Windows XP Pro SP2 host system. I installed VMware tools and it seems to be working cause I can choose th resolution I want to use and it works correctly. However, the ethernet device is not working correctly. What do I have to do? Everytime I boot mandrake, the boot takes lots of time when it reachs the line "Bringing up eth0 interface" (or something like that, can't remember), in verbose mode of course. And after while, it says [FAILED] where every other line says [OK]. I guess this is the only thing missing for my distro on VMware to work perfectly. By the way, on my virtual machien settings, I have Bridged network conection selected. So, any ideas on what I have to do to make it work?

I remembered now why I installed the latest one from the site... last time I installed the rpm, xmms freezed when playing mp3... that's why uninstalled the rpm and installed the latest tarball from the sit... but i'll try to install the rpm again adn then update with the tarball

it's easier but it's not the latest version...

no, I didn't install xmms from mandrake, I downloaded the tarball from www.xmms.org and installed it... and I don't have the audio cable, I want to play it digitally...

my xmms didn't come with the cdread... where can I download the *full thing*?

I've downloaded xmms-cdread from the xmms website and installed but not working... I ahve xmms isntalled in /home/nazgulled/Programs/xmms so I installed it like this: ./configure --prefix=/home/nazgulled/Programs/xmms make make install it worked, the files are in the input plugin folder (/home/nazgulled/Programs/xmms/libs/xmms/input) but the plugin does not appear in the Audio I/O Plugins tab in Options » Preferences... what do I have to do ?

the animations speed is fixed, thanks zero0w for that topic. the only problem is now it's they way it diplays the graphics... too buggy, and they ahve a border too, wich is not supposed to... if anyone knows how to fix it ;) thank you all

but there are lots of differences and what about the dislocation of the flash animation? and the top and left line that it's not supposed to be there... take a look at this new screenshot... zoom it and compare the color zones and see for yourself... the top picture is worse in quality but don't mind that...

can't find anything on xmms to play an audio cd... I think i'm missing some input plugin... but I don't know wich... if anyone could help... as for the mute, nothing was muted...

ok this is fixed... I used both ways (aumix and messing with the kcc) and now that annoying sound only starts for 1 second or so and stops... the mixer settings were saved... yuppieeee..... thank you both ;)

that's the problem... I can't really find the /mtn/cdrom or /dev/cdrom but i'll take a deeper look to into ehwn I boot into linux again

I can do that to my websites, the ones I design, but what about the ones Ido not own, there are many out there that are not like that and the letteres are so small.. I read something about this on the mozdev site but it didn't work for me... maybe it's outdated... I designed websites for some time and enver reazlied why there was more than one font in codes like that, now I know and I'll be chagin all my css files with that, but with the sites I can't do that what should I do? I checked that corefonts site but I seriously cna't udnerstand what to do... create an rpm file? for what? isn't that supposed to be for install stuff? why they don't create so we can install those fonts? can you explain that for me so I can understand and if possible build me an rpm and tell me what to do with it or I just ahve to double-click it, isntall it and it's done and everysite with that fonts will be visible corectly? I don't think nothing is muted... but I'll check it once agian when I'm back on linux... but, what about xmms? can't I play audio cds there, how can I do it? what plugin should I install?

I have 4 speakers and a subwoofer (creatinve inspire 4.1) and a sound blaster live 1024 player card and using emu10k1 for the sound device (mdk10). Everytime I startup mandrake the 2 rear speakers keep playing a sound like "bbuuuuummmmm" and don't stop... I found a way to stop this but everytime I startup this setting is changed back. This and many other settings like volume and such are reverted back automatically when I startup mandrake again (I'm talking about Kmix settings). Take a look at the attached picture... you see that blue circle I made? what's that for? what does it mean when one of that red circles are selected? that sound on the rear speakers only happens if that's the circle that it's selected (wich is everytime I startup mandrake no matter how many times I change it) if I change to any other, the sound stops (I can still play sounds on all 4 speakers) But like I said the options I set on Kmix are not saved. Please help, this sound in the startup is really annoying...

I have isntalled firefox 0.8 and then flash player 6 for the browser, everything worked fine, I can now see pages in flash with firefox the problem is, they are not correctly displayed... There are 2 problems: 1) The animations that any flash contains are toooooooo slow.... 2) The graphics are not correctly displayed... (check the attached file) For instance, the website on the attached file it was I who designed it and the first image is firefox on mandrake and the second firefox on windows. I don't think I need to explain anything, just look at the logo on the elft and compare the 2 images to see what I mean, the second one is the correct one as you may imagine... So, why does it look that weird on linux. Didi I installed flash wrong? am I missing something? in case you want to know, i'm talking about www.maistersolutions.com, I designed it... I've see arial nor verdana fonts correctly in my browsers... the fonts are too tiny I can barely read them and the type of font is nothing liek the one it's suppposed to be... I'm saying this because I made a website wich looks nice on windows but on linux the fonts are all messed up, they are really small and weird, is there any wayt to fix this? I don't want to fix it just for my site but for the overall sites cuz I get this problem on some other sites too... and I want to be able to read the fonts properly. Thanks in advance.
