  1. Hi all I am a COMPLETE newbie to Linux, so please be gentle :) I have a PC which has an ATA hard disc to be used purely for the Mandrake install. I also have a SCSI adapter, Adaptec AHA 2940 with a Yamaha SCSI CD ROM CRW6416S as the only SCSI device connected. Unfortunately I can't boot off the CD ROM - hence a floppy install is required. I have got the 3 disc set of Mandrake V10 and have created a boot floppy using the cdrom.img. So far so good. Now when I boot off the floppy I get as far as the installation saying that it is 'Loading the driver for SCSI Adapter, Adaptec AHA-294x AIC-7871', then a window is displayed saying 'Error, No CDROM device found'. So what do I need to do to get the install to recognise my SCSI CDROM and thereby continuing with the install?. ++++++++++++++ A further development: I have since tried V9.0 which came free with a PC magazine. Now the interesting thing is that the V9 boot floppy recognises the CD ROM and starts the full installation without any problem. So, I' tried copying the cdrom.rdzfile from V9 onto V10's boot up floppy. And, of course, it didn't like it when I booted from the V10 floppy. So, clearly my hardware is alright. The problem must therefore lie with the V10 CDROM driver. Any ideas on how to get this to work on the V10 boot up floppy? +++++++++++++++ I am a newbie so any step by step instructions would be most appreciated. Many thanks
