Maybe your accounts haven't been upgraded to the new look'n'feel? Do they look any different from how they looked last week?
Mine certainly looks different than last time I saw it, don't know about last week though, I haven't actually visited the site for some years.

Works fine for me FF3, I have had a couple of accounts there forever as well.

It occured to me that perhaps I messed the screen settings within the game itself (I did change some settings); but how can I change the settings of Doom3 without entering the game? (Catch 22)
Just delete or rename you doom3 config file (/home/dude67/.doom3/base/DoomConfig.cfg), and when you restart Doom3 it will generate another one with the defaults. But this of course may not be your problem by the sounds of it, but it does answer you question above.

Does not the following work for you?
su -
root PW
konqueror -profile filemanagement
worked for me in 2009. It is of course for the file manager mode, you would have to change that for whatever mode you want.
I am going to reinstall, this time like AussieJohn, installing Gnome, and then install KDE3, KDE4 is a bit of a mess, and a lot of stuff just doesn't work, or work correctly with it. But more then likely I am going to go to Debian SID, or LinuxMint KDE CE, but I will give 2009 one more go

Just be ware/be aware,

it seems that letting 2009 automatically set up your sources/mirrors, it may be setting them up for cooker (2009.1) instead of 2009.0, which may not worry those who are comfortable with cooker, but others may not be so comfortable, and taken by surprise.
This is also applying to those installing from the official media, it seems.
why so many dependency conflicts? [solved]

Hi, Just out of curiosity, are you installing via MCC Software manager, or via an .rpm that you have downloaded from somewhere?
