  1. Hey all,

Heres the situation. I just bought a computer out of the box with xp home edition. The stock harddrive is SATA. I installed a seperate IDE hardrive where linux Fedora has been installed to. I cant even see the sata harddrive during installation or fstab after installation. Since i cant see it all, is it possible to set up a dual-boot?

Any Suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

  2. Hey Everyone,

Im running Mandrake 10.1 official on a Compaq Presario 2500 (2580US)

I cannot recognize the wireless Card built into the laptop. When I research the

model for the network adapter on compaqs website it is a (Broadcom WLAN Network Adapter)

It has a windows driver download for it but that is all. Is there any way i can use that driver. ndiswrapper or soemthing? not really sure on this one. Can anyone point me into the right direction?

  3. I have 2 harddrive and it is on the first one i am pretty sure the error that came up was something like cant read head or write protected. so i just left it and tried in rescue. But does anyone know where i can get a boot floppy to boot from that to Linux without getting the file from linux. (since i cant get in). or can anyone show me a easier way to get in?

  4. Well i basically cant make a bootloader on my boot sector. If i could get into linux i could make a floppy but how can i make one like from windows since i cant get in Linux Mandrake. So i dont think re-installing or upgrading will work because i have already tried.

  5. I re-installed mandrake 10. and i had an error on my bootloader which made it so i cant use a bootloader instead of totally killing the disk how can i make linux boot from a floppy. Or if possible is there a relatively easy way to fix my current bootloader any help is appreciated.

  6. I am running 10. community. I recently needed gtk to run a program i downloaded. It said i did not have GTK greatenough. So i went to freshmeat and downloaded the .tar.gz file. I ran it as root and it produced this error :

    ------------

configure: error: Library requirements (glib-2.0 >= 2.4.0 atk >= 1.0.1 pango >= 1.4.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

    ----------

I downloaded GLIB (also from freshmeat)latest package

it appeared to run thorugh fine with the directions found in INSTALL

I went back to the terminal and ran GTK again.

    IT didnt work.
