joe: did bbbuttons compile fine for you? i seem to be missing a header file:
In file included from bbbutton.c:13:
bbbutton.h:9:21: X11/xpm.h: No such file or directory
bbbutton.c: In function `int main(int, char**)':
bbbutton.c:106: `XpmCreatePixmapFromData' undeclared (first use this function)
bbbutton.c:106: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each function it appears in.)
bbbutton.c:108: `XpmReadFileToData' undeclared (first use this function)
make: *** [bbbutton] Error 1
odd :-/

Don't really care about WMP for Linux. Quicktime for Linux would be great though.
only way i know of to do that is crossover plug-in.

"it's not flashy"... if I could I would.
what i meant was there aren't things blinking everywhere and a lot of bright colors. "flashy" as in a flash bulb on a camera going off.

But if you can, maybe you can play around with schemes that involve using 2 hard drives at the same time such as having swap on the second drive or splitting up the frequently used system partitions (vs data partitions).
so i'm thinking...20gig HD, mostly /home parition and then my swap partition, and split up the 40 for the others...i'm not well acquianted with the setup, so i'm not sure what to consider data vs. system. going to check out the link aru put up and see if that helps me any.
thanks for all the info guys! hopefully by sunday evening my system will be windows free! (assuming I don't get all i-need-my-games like and decide to keep windows "just in case"....hehe)

More than you ever wanted to know about that.
actually, although i was just browsing the forum, that was an interesting tidbit. one more bit of nearly useless information that i can store in the back of my mind to bring up again during an akward silence :)
(i find the best way to break akward silence is to say something totally off the wall-you usually get a response, of some sort)

everything likes to default to /usr/local/ instead of /usr
but, it doesn't LOOk there...gah. well, glad you guys got it fixed. i still haven't played with it at all.....wonder if it works in waimea?
-
I can't stop playing with this thing! Waimea I mean...
riiiiiiiigggghhttt.............we all know you love your........
WAFFLE!!
you thought i was gonna say...............didn't ya?

shouldn't there be an option to change to text-based lilo in MCC->boot?
maybe I'm wrong :-/

Guess what happens when you loose mouse movement in CS.
YOU DIE!!! you die quick!
i'm guessing wine is causing your issue, so it may not really be related to this issue other than in the end product....a stuck mouse :)

see despite my infinate linux wisdom,
this is still something I'm not clear on. would i literally
make uninstall fluxspace
and what directory would I do this in? :?:
actually..if you left the directory which you built fluxspace in, you would just do make uninstall in that directory. atleast..that's how I undersatnd it...
if you deleted that directory (like I always do) then you just have to use the "find and delete" method :) but...i'm not sure...?

As far as expense, they are not all that expensive...
think: college student, makes maybe $120 every two weeks-if that. buys food, pays for gas. has cell phone bill.
anything more than $20 is expensive

nv driver=no good
i tried lower resolutions, but same issue. it seems that things get distorted when the screen is stretched to fit the size of the monitor-that's all I can figure out. issue still remains, because if I can get 1600x1200 working that resolution should be the right size, and things wouldn't get distorted......

the 20 gig drive is not THAT old :-P (ok...maybe 2 years...)
in fact, I think both my 40 and 20 gig run at 7200 RPMs, I'd have to double check that.
