  1. Now this is what i call - don't show your talent if you don't possess one

At the time of setting up Mandriva free 2008.1 spring, it asked me to select a desktop environment.

Today i have read some articles relating to gnome vs KDE

so i wanted to try GNOME myself. As you all know I am new to LINUX i don't know how it is done.

So i went to control centre, then to boot-->auto loggin--> there i selected GNOME as my desktop instead of KDE

and now when i am booting its showing

GNOME v2.22 first panel is loading second looks like the show desktop icon of WINDOWS and finish nothing more

and if click any where the GNOME part dissappears and nothing happens. All I am left is with the Login screen. :wall:

So guys am I in a BIGGGGGGG Trouble of this problem does has a SOLUTION.

  2. When you are selecting the disc type in Nero, make sure the box labled 'No Multisession' is checked. This will ensure that your discs are finalized and you should be able to read them on any other OS.

May B its b'coz i hvn't burned it in ISO format. all my DVDs r burned in UDF file format, i think thats the reason Y mandriva is not able to read it.

Neways thanks for your support I think i got my answer.

  3. Ok i think you are not a windows user.

if you are then you must be knowing about NERO burning ROM

i used that software to burn the DVDs and now linux is not able to read that not even a data disc containing mp3 files.

it is really getting my nerves

  4. I have got the mandriva 2008 spring from the LINUX for you magazine MAY 2008 issue.

and i installed it in my core2duo/intel D945GCL, the control panel is showing that it has the driver but its not working i can't hear the sound when i play a mp3 file. I am a newbie, i want to accept Linux as my main operating system but not without sound.

    Can anyone please help me?

I hv sigmatel software in windows.

where can i find the appropriate driver.
