I'm running SuSe9.0 with GNOME right now. I know when I was running KDE I could get some very nice looking themes from HERE but so far all I've been able to dig up for GNOME is THIS SITE now, I may be missing something but the site for GNOME doesn't seem to have what I'm looking for. Where would you GNOME users recommend looking? Mark
  5. luser@linux:~> sh runLimeWire luser@linux:~> ./runLimeWire as you can see not much happens :( I have no idea what's up with it. I also went into yast and downloaded some java. Mark
  6. looks like I should start using rpm's from now on
  7. when I do "sh runLimeWire" I don't get any error, it hangs for a second or two then nothign else happnes. I'll try "./runLimeWire" when I get home from class and see how that works. Mark
  8. I'm still getting used to how things work. I'm slowly but surely finding out that I can find almost anything I need via yast :D I suppose I could do rpm's, I have more experience with tar's so that's why I went that route. Do you feel that a rpm would've been a better choice, if so why? If it is a better/easier way to go I'll definately start using rpm's when possible. As far as disc's go, I installed suse via FTP so I have the ftp boot disc, the only other suse disc I have besides that is the SuSE 9.0 Live CD. Could I use one of those? thanks for any help. Mark
  9. Yes, I installed as root, I also tried typing "gftp" in terminal and it didn't work that's why I was a bit confused. Mark
  10. Ok, I downloaded gFTP (tar) and extracted it. Inside the folder it made I did: ./configure make make install everything seemed to go just fine, but now how do I launch it? Thanks for any help you can give. Here is the list of files in that dir: linux:/home/luser/gftp-2.0.16 # ls . config.guess COPYING Makefile src .. config.h debian Makefile.am stamp-h ABOUT-NLS config.h.in docs Makefile.in stamp-h.in acinclude.m4 config.log gftp.spec missing THANKS aclocal.m4 config.rpath gftp.spec.in mkinstalldirs TODO AUTHORS config.status INSTALL NEWS ChangeLog config.sub install-sh po ChangeLog-old configure intl README config.cache configure.in lib README.html What you think? 11. Yep, I found mozillafirebird in yast2. I downloaded that and was able to launch firebird via cli :D Since I haven't been able to use it lately I've been using Konqueror and I like it just as much :D I still can't get limewire to run for somereason, any ideas? Mark
  12. would the command be a bit different since I"m using firebird 0.7?
  13. I'll give that a try when I get home from work, sounds like it could work :D Oh, btw, I'm running GNOME...would the kdejava still work it would it mess things up since I'm running GNOME? ...oh, one more thing. I've never uninstalled software in linux before, how would I go about removing it? Thanks for any help you can give. Mark
  14. When I originally tried to install limewire it wouldn't install, said it needed java to run, that's why I installed the java (pain in the butt) and now mozilla won't run anymore. I also tried "sh runLimeWire" and nothing happened, didn't get any message from the terminal either. Any ideas? Mark
  15. I did that as well, worked rather well :D Mark
  16. thanks for the input guys, looks like gFTP is going to be the way to go :D Mark
  17. I've used the cli ftp client via terminal before and used it successfully, but I'm still not 100% comfortable with it yet so I would like to use a gui based one for a bit till I'm comfortable. I'm currently running SuSE 9.0, what would you guys recommend for an easy to use ftp client? Thanks for any help. Mark
  18. check it out I was reading /. today like I do every 10 minutes or so :P and I cam across the above article, I thought you guru's would be interested in it. Mark
  19. Also, how do I run limewire now? I have a file called runLimeWire and when I double click it and select "run" nothing happens. Is there a certain way I'm supposed to do it, or do I have to run it from terminal if so, how? Thanks for any help. Mark
  20. well I got good news and bad news. I found that directory that you were talking about pmpatrick and I did the commmands in that dir that the FAQ told me to do. LimeWire was able to install after I did that which is the good news. Now the bad news is Mozilla won't run :( Any ideas of what happened? Mark
  21. Well I wanna try running limewire so I did some digging around in the FAQ's. Everytying was going smoothly till I get to this part of it. cd /usr/lib/mozilla-1.4/plugins/ I don't seem to have that mozilla folder at all in /jusr/lib I have no clue why. Anybody have any ideas since I need to do some changes in their to get java running proplerly. Any hlep is appreciated. Thanks Mark
  22. I threw the file on the desktop (shortcut) and when I doublt click it it asks me if I want to view it, run it, etc... When I choose "run" it works fine. Mark
  23. Which file do you think it is? Here is the list: luser@linux:~> cd MozillaFirebird luser@linux:~/MozillaFirebird> ls chrome libmozz.so libxlibrgb.so regxpcom components libnspr4.so libxpcom_compat.so res defaults libnss3.so libxpcom.so run-mozilla.sh icons libnssckbi.so libxpistub.so searchplugins libgkgfx.so libplc4.so mangle shlibsign libgtkembedmoz.so libplds4.so MozillaFirebird timebombgen libgtksuperwin.so libsmime3.so MozillaFirebird-bin xpicleanup libgtkxtbin.so libsoftokn3.chk mozilla-xremote-client libjsj.so libsoftokn3.so plugins libmozjs.so libssl3.so regchrome and yes, I did extract it to my home folder. Any ideas? Mark
  24. Well guys yet ANOTHER question by me. I'm sure the answer is so simple I'm going to feel like a moron afterwards. I installed a firebird 0.7 tar.gz and extracted it. It created it's own folder "MozillaFirebird" and has a bunch of files in it. The problem is I don't know how to install it from here (or have I already done that) and what file to use as a link on my desktop? Any ideas? :D Mark
  25. Well, I've been toying around with the "add/remove software" in Yast and I like it very much so far. I've only run into one problem so far with it. I've downloaded many packages successfully, but I can't seem to get glib. I check the box for it and it seems to go through the process of downloading it but when I go to exrtract a certain tar.gz (I don't need this file anymore but it's a good example of the situation) it will go through the extraction just fine until it hits the end...then it says it needs glib 2.0.0 ...but I downoaded glib You guys have any iideas on this? Mark
