  1. I tried the failsafe on mine and the drivers did not work. 'X' crashed. Apparently it installes in the wrong directiries when in failsafe. Don't know why but it didn't work. Just my experience. Yours may vary. :D :D :D
  2. If that don't work, try this. Login to a term as root. Type in "init 3". You will see some of the services stopping and x will be gone. When it gets done login as root and install the drivers. When you are through type in "init 5". You should see the services start back up and the GUI. If you get a error, make sure to write it down. Especially the part that starts with "(EE)". Good luck. Hope the install goes OK. Usually does. :D :D :D :D
  3. According to the same site the ABIT NF7-S is supported/works. I wish they would say that it needed a patch so folks will know. :D :D
  4. Did you use the patch for systems with 1Gb or more of memory? You can get this here: http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/errata.php3. That may help. Still curious about the sata though. May want to try Mandrake 9.2 if you can get it. :D :D :D :D
  5. I have read where some people are having trouble with serial ata. That may be your problem. It may not be able to see the drives to install. Do a google/linux search and see what you can find. I would start with: "mandrake 9.1" sata. That should get you started anyway. :D :D :D :D
  6. I noticed this on another machine once. When you start to boot and the screen right after the one with the memory count goes away, there is a message right at the bottom 'press any key to boot from cd . . . " or something to that effect. Make sure you hit a key or it will boot from primary master even if not in BIOS. This really ticked me because the machine was so fast you couldn't really read it before it went away. Took me a while. :D :D :D :D

    Modem Troubles!

Do you ever click 'Connect'. If you click connect and get a error message, click 'Details' and post them here. It may even tell you what is wrong and fix yourself. Mine is usually wrong login etc. You don't have to 'query' modem. Just make sure the right device is selected, /dev/ttyS4, then click 'OK' and then connect. Should work. :D :D :D
  8. I think you can change this in the Mnadrake Control Center under 'Mount Points'. Be carefull though. You have to be in root to do this. Click on what you want to change and there should be a place in there to change the label. Good Luck. I just foud this board. Hope to be helpful. Been using Mandrake for about a year. :D :D :D :D
