I am facing a very strange problem in Mandriva 2008.1 that my Microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard 1.1 is connected to device (the numeric pad key and function key indicator switch on & off in USB dongle on hitting them on & off keyboard)
but the keyboard can not type anything.. the wire less mouse works well
and also I have now only one desktop left (than routine 4) and the window decorations gone
I feel some trouble with Compiz Fusion upate??
Mandriva 2008.1 (recently updated)
Asus motherboard P5N-E-Sli
nvidia 7200Gs
microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard 1.1
1 GB ram

finally got it:
it says the solution as:--
Finally I figured everything that said legacy from update-menus -v I removed, than in /root I renamed .xdg_menu_cache and renamed some of the inputs (/var/lib/menu-xdg) than I had to run xdg_menu and finally update-menus and now the menu seems clean again....
What does this all mean to a newbie?? please tell me in more step by step codes..

menudrake is not there anymore, you could try editing your menus with either alacarte (for gnome) or kmenuedit (for kde)
kmenuedit only edits the existing list but I need to update my kmenu list so that it shows all the installed programs..

drakmenustyle already installed..
mcc does not have an updater only style can be changed.. 1. KDE/Gnome style (all packages may not be listed)
2. Mandriva style
both have the same missing list..

After upgrade to mandriva 2008, I have lost listing of many programs like Openoffice, Abiword, Menu Updater etc. from START/KDE menu..
I have tried update-menus.. kappfinder.. menudrake(no such command?).. but I can not update my menu to all the programs installed..
I cannot start OpenOffice by Alt+F2 as I do not know the command..
I wish to update my Menu to Fullest..
Please suggest a way..

Maybe checking if you have these files or reinstalling of drakxtools will help.
Here is a link with similar symptoms to yours.

I am also in similar trouble: software installer exits unexpectedly after a failes smart-urpmi upgrade
it is today the third day of desperation looking for a solution
