  7. Hi, I have installed mandriva with Mandriva ONE CD. I installed it as a dual boot with WIN-XP. I am experiencing few problems. Please guide me. 1. If I login as root in the shell(bash) and type mount, it shows me 3 mounted devices: a) ext3 b) ext3 and c) CD-ROM, the problem is, it DOESN"T even show NTFS partition. Please suggest me what should I do. 2. I read somewhere that typing sudo will give me some more info. I typed 'sudo' and it says "sudo: command not found". I typed in "which sudo", it says "sudo not found". 3. When I go to configure, it shows that GCC is installed. When I come to the shell and type "gcc", it says "gcc:command not found". when i type "which gcc", it says "gcc not found". Please help. Thanks.
  8. Thanks for ur suggestion. It worked out great. As I am new to linux so I have some irritating questions: 1. I booted my system(512 MB RAM) from USB (2 GB) using virtual city. It loads perfectly. I configured my wireless connection, it worked beautifully. The only problem is that when I reboot the system from the same USB, all the setting are gone ....i.e. I have to reconfigure EVERY SINGLE THING. Am I missing something? 2. I have the intel graphic card, so 3D desktop should work but it gives me some errors when I follow the steps. After that it goes to console mode (when I say end session, during the process) and when I type KDE on console it doesn't load KDE and gives me some more error messages. 3. I want to work on C++ using VIM editor. It doesn't have G++. I tried installing it from software install but it still doesn't work at all. Please help.
  9. I just need some info about the Mandriva on USB. Questions: Do I need to buy it or I can download it free also (USB Version)? Is it same as CD version (Mandriva One)? Is it possible to boot the system from the USB (like we have an option of booting from CD-ROM)? Will the mandriva from USB be able to see files in WIN XP hardrive of the system? Thanks a lot.
  10. Another question: To install mandriva on my system, do I need to download all three CDs from their website? i.e. http://www.mandriva.com/en/download/free My only worry is that, they keep on saying "trial"...so i am confused whether its a "trial" version or comeplete version on which, if I save some setting it will stay the way I saved them OR they will change on every reboot. If I download the whole package from their site then will I be able to install it the way Windows XP is? Thanks.
  11. Thanks all for the replies. They were really helpful. Neddie: You are right that I have to do it everytime I reboot my system. I have windows XP on my system. Is it possible to make it dual boot and install mandriva also? How much space mandriva require? And can I access my windows files from mandriva if I install mandriva(with windows as a dual boot)? Also, will my wireless card (internet connection) work in madriva? I know I am asking a lot of question, but I am confused about what should I do. Thanks a lot guys.
