  2. Hi guys, Bought a Compaq amd64 (sr1440uk) on Sunday. Installed LE2005x64. The problem is the clock is going too fast. It's gaining about two hours per hour. In the bios the clock is fine. Any ideas?? Cheers, co

    xorg-x11 update

Thanks for the reply. The config page would be cool. Also on a side note, what are the entries needed for tv-out to work in the XF86Config file. I've always used yanc to configure my card for tv-out (twinview) but since installing mdk 10.1 it cannot open the config file. I think it's because previously yanc used XF86Config-4 but now with xorg it's changed to XF86Config. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, co

    xorg-x11 update

I'm using 10.1 Official with an nvidia graphics card. If I update to the latest xorg-x11 via update, will this break the nvidia drivers? Or do I only need updated nvidia drivers when I update the kernel? Cheers, co bored & confused at work.......
  6. Thanks for the reply. I've tied that but still no luck. I've also renamed the .kde folder to reset all the kde settings but no luck either. I'm writing this in konqueror under Gnome so I'm really at a loss. co
  7. I installed 10.1 official last night. Everything went well except this morning kong doesn't open. It worked last night but now, even from the command line it doesn't start. No error messages either. Any ideas? Cheers co
  8. I've installed Mandrake 10 along side winxp. Everything went ok. But in my infinite wisdom I decided to format one of my windows partitions from fat32 to nfts (while I was running windows). Now when I boot into Mandrake it highlights an error saying that it cannot mount drive as it's the wrong file type. How can I get Mandrake to recognize the drive as ntfs not fat32? There doesn't seem to be an option in mcc to 'reread' the file type only to format the drive which I don't want to do. Is there a way to change the entry in fstab from fat32 to ntfs? (The partition is on the first disk, second partition, shown as Win_d) Any help would be appreciated. PS I don't want to write to the partition only read. Cheers co
  9. er........ I carried on messing around, tried the open terminal option in one of the shortcut menus, as you suggested hours ago, and it works. I put --noclose to keep the window open to review the results and alls fine. I did try that before, honest guv. Anyway something changed before then and now. Thanks for the help, have a good one. co
  10. Thanks for the reply. When run from a shortcut on the desktop nothing seems to happen, but if I run the script from the command line konsole does briefly open but closes leaving the following error message: [chris@compaq chris]$ sh test.run konsole: cannot chown /dev/pts/6. Reason: Operation not permitted konsole_grantpty: determined a strange device name `/dev/ptmx'. konsole: chownpty failed for device /dev/pts/6::/dev/pts/6. : This means the session can be eavesdroped. : Make sure konsole_grantpty is installed in : /usr/bin/ and setuid root. konsole_grantpty: determined a strange device name `/dev/ptmx'. The following is the basic example of the script I'm trying to get to work: #! /bin/bash konsole -e 'bdc /home/chris/tmp' I've set it to rwx for everyone Cheers co
  11. yeah, I tried that. The program ran but it didn't open konsole..............
  12. How can I setup a bash script so that when I double click on an icon, konsole opens and displays what's happening? It's so I can setup f-prot or bitdefender antivirus with the relevant switches to run from an icon on the desktop, but running inside konsole. Cheers co
