well, i just installed both mplayer and mplayer firefox plugins from urpmi. are u talking about actually compiling mplayer?

Hi, i was wondering what the options for embedded media players are? I have mplayer working with firefox, but its not perfect. The main thing thats not working is there are no onscreen controls for the movies that play in the browser (like play, pause, etc). also, on some websites, the video is kind of cut off. anyway, what are some other options? thank!, i will try that, but i ran startx before tryingto reconfigure my video card. I get this error: Unidentified Monitor aticonfig-Monitor[0] Fatal Server Error: no screen found so, it was the drivers i installed. I looked at the xorg.conf file to see whats up, and ati is in a bunch of places so i don't know what to change. i will try your method, thanks, and if any1 else has any tips, it would be really appreciated.

I have been running Mandriva for about a week now, and all of a sudden, I try booting today and it goes into a Command Line only? Where is KDE? I recently installed ATI drivers, but i have rebooted after that and it worked. What's going on? Is there a file somewhere that I need to change to get it into the KDE environment? TIA, i really need some help, i'm new!

I installed pdnsd with the GUI and its giving me this error when i try to start it up: cannot change directory to /var/lib/pdnsd: no such file what does that mean? seems to me like its not installed correctly, why? TIA!

i've been reading about it a little and have some questions. 1.) Am I right to assume that 3d Acceleration is not set up with the default drivers installed automatically by Mandriva? 2.) I have a ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, are there drivers that would support this for 3d Accerlation? 3.) I'm new to linux, what would be the easiest way for me to install the drivers? i saw that ATI has a .run file to configure the drivers, would that work? thanks!

I was wondering if any1 knew of a tutorial to help me set up a DNS cache on Mandriva? I am using DSL connecting to a router. I have the latest Mandriva version that i just installed. I've found tutorials for Ubuntu, but i'm new at linux and i would love a Mandriva specific tutorial, or even some general guidance. I would really appreciate it! TIA!
