hi all, well i got me one of those wireless usb devices well £12 from ebuyer like you do, and thought ok im gona install you!! Ohh no yer not!! oh yes i am>>>>.... ok linux beat me again.. ok i hear you say Bilbo's gona give up this time for sure. nope i removed my linksys wirless card from computer number 3 and thought uhmm its a card device mabey i can sneek it in without linux seeing :ph34r: . i was right thats for sure ehehe it didnt see it uhmmm ok linux you gona get it big time,, so i clicked around aimlessly in the drivers file and ureaka it installed . well number 4 is now online but im gona try and install the usb device again :wacko: .Ok right can i have some more help please. i cant use the make command for the tar install so can some one run it past me how i can get to install the tools for this only i think i am having so much trouble because i didnt install them at first install.many thanks bilbo [moved from Software by spinynorman]

Ahh right yeah i see what you are saying!! this root thing is best stayed away from well it was the only way i could get it to work at the time but i will take your advice and not use the root login, and now i will use the su over ride command, its just that linux is nothing like windows uhmm thats probably a good thing ehh! oh thanks for the shortcut to commands list i have saved it.regards bilbo.

hi all, yeah it was flash player that was not installed as i was unable to see websites in flash, and no flash doesnt come on the free disc. uhmm as for signing in as root that was only to copy files over.Although whats the difference between running windows under full admin and running linux under root !!!! apart from i dont know what im doing with linux lol so its probably safer at this point :unsure:. I am liking linux though as I am now going to give the computer acces to the internet via wireless as this is my number4 computer.

:D thank you it worked ! but i had to sign in under root ? well i didnt know root was the same as adminisrator and typing root in was kinda strange but never the less your instuctions worked and im now able to veiw web pages with flash in them. i also managed to download from Easy-Urpmi and was totally suprised by the ammount of software. i think linux contains a hidden virus and i may have caught it lol

words of wisdom john , thank you i am not one who gives up so quickly. I have a problem that perhaps people are overlooking and are to keen to add me to the pile of useless noobies. I have been checking forum after forum and some one said that with some distos they do not install certain things like "make" commands ect because they expect people to use the rpm extractors but if this is true then how do I install "one of my original problems" Flash which seems to only come in a tar type format ???? any further help would be welcomed. I did say i was using the free edition. many thanks.

im trying out linux i have the free issue mandriva, im used to the other system by that money maker gates person. my oh my im having problems with what should be a simple install, i tried to install flash player but it said i needed dazuko i tried installing avg but it said i need dazuko!!! ok i got dazuko and well why is it not an rpm file i could esally self install ............i have tried to follow instuctions on how to install these tar files but it dont work iv spent hours and still no luck i got so far and it said no make command !!! does this mean that in the free edition you cant install tar files??. im very confused and bill gates is looking more viable by the hour, why does linux have to be a pain no wonder its not popular to the masses, im sure programers are holding back and why cant they make a universal extractor for these files im not a programmer im a user. making an operating system hard to use i sno fun :unsure: please help....
