  1. Yes that is right Firefox just times out (Not connecting) and Konqueror has a problem with the reply and forward buttons all others seems to work fine. I will start a new post about the browser but originally I had problem with the DSL which led to these problem so I just thought I would ask here.

  2. No it is not a lab top but I had to turn that acpi off (It has a hibernation button) . Yes I am sure that I typed the password and screen names corretly. I will try to upgrade to a updated verison and see if that works. Will I have to uninstall the current verison or will it overwrite?

  3. Ok using my DSL. I have two web browers of choice konqueror and Firefox my problem is this will konqueror half work and firefox keep timing out. When im in my yahoo mail and want to rely, forword, etc the buttons will not activate. It is like it is treating it as a picture or somthing. I would like to get both of these working.

  4. Well the computer will not be set on a network at this time single user computer. The thmodem is from Quest and it is a DSL Modem with wireless Gateway by ActionTec. I would guess that since it is DSL the IP will be dynamic right?(I'm could be wrong). It will not be a wireless setup. I have the choice to use a USB or Ethernet connection so I choose Ethernet .

  5. Ok I have Comcast cable and my Mandriva-Move is able to connect to the internet but I also have Quest DSL and it will not connect to the net. This wouldn't be a problem, but soon I will not have the cable connection only the DSL. I have only used linux for 2 day and I dont have a clue how to get the DSL to connect. If some one could give me a walk thru of what to do I would be highly thankful.

  6. I setup my yahoo, msn, google talk and aol account in Kopete. When I put my password in it keeps tellling me that my password is wrong, but it is not and they all say the same thing so nothing will connect. I am using Mandriva-move and the Kopete version is 0.8.0 (Using KDE 3.2 BRANCH >= 20040204). How can I fix this I have only been using linux for about 2 days now so I'm learning my way around please provide as much details as possible.

  7. Ok when I hit the f1 key and get the command line I used both

    linux acpi=off nopcmcia

    and

    livecd acpi=off nopcmcia

but only the linux acpi = off nopcmcia was reconized. From what I can see during inialization I get to the point where it say's

    "uncompressing Linux...ok, booting the kernel."

Then the screen flashes a few times and the computer reboots itself.

    *note

When I tried other live cd my computer hanged at this spot. The cd would eventually stop spinning.

  8. Well I'll list the steps I took so someone can help me. The problem is with the kernel image for some reason it's not on the iso cd or my computer is not reading it I dont know.

I wanted to download the "Mandriva Linux Move Download Edition ISO image for i586 and higher processors".

1.So I went to the ftp mirror link and downloaded from one of the locations.

    2. I saved the download to my desktop.

    3. Using CD burner xp pro 3 I went to file an seleted "write disk from ISO file" and selected the iso image from my desktop.

    4. Once the cd burn had complete I resarted the computer with the cd in the drive. It start up but then it would resart the system. It is for some reason not loading the kernel. I have tried other distro and none work but hopefully someone can help me with this. I check the iso image on my desktop and the md5 matched up. I dont know if I need to verify the cd with the iso image on it also
