Hello. When I shut down my computer a lot of messages appear about shutting down different services.
I saw for example that
Stopping NFS locking: [FAILED]
It means something important or not?
Also there are some other long messages that I have no time to read. There is log file or something with this messages on halting the system?
Thanx

Again about MDE you find latest kde available (kde-3.5.4), thing that mandriva doesnt provide, and more advanced and complete apps.
sorry I'm not a “Super Trouper” in Linux and I don't understand very well what's about MDE. I can install a new version of KDE? Or what I have to do? Can you give some more details?

On MCC at Boot loader there are some check boxes:

Hello. Since I updated my system when I try to use GNOME as a win manager all menus disappear. No menus, no side bar no buttons. I have on my desktop just Home directory and Trash. No application launcher or something like that

Normally when I've seen this it's been something to do with the sound configuration. What version of Mandrake/Mandriva are you running? And have you applied updates to your system? Maybe there is a fix for it.
hmm in fact this happened after I install some urpmi software. anyway I don't know how to apply updates. From easy urpmi I cheked all and I typed in the console what they gave. That was an update? (sorry for this basic question).

Looking around through processes that are running on my computer I found some that I don't know what they're doing and don't know if are important or not. Some of them are:

applets – zombie

Hello. From some time after I start my computer I receive an error message from KDE like this. If I press OK nothing happen, and KDE is still running. I don't know what it means that message, if its dangerous or not. Also I can't remember when was the first time when appear. It seems to me that since I installed Mandriva. Can anyone explain from where I get this message?
Thanx
-
So you're perfectly fine as you are with your system now as they both match.
but they match?
it seems to me that
kernel-i686-up-4GB-2.6.12.12mdk-1-1mdk
kernel-source-2.6-2.6.12-12mdk <- here -1-1 is missing or it has no importance?
-
In my case is
# rpm -qa | grep kernel kernel-i686-up-4GB-2.6.12.12mdk-1-1mdk kernel-source-2.6-2.6.12-12mdk
if you want updates and latest versions,How can I update?
I click the easyurpmi link and running as root it gives me:
medium "updates" already exists
How can I install the updated kernel-source?

Hi there. I want to use a PCMCIA wireless card on my computer. For installing the driver I have to install the kernel.
# uname -r gives me:
2.6.12-12mdk-i686-up-4GB
On my Mandriva distribution I have 2 choices
1.kernel-2.6.12.12mdk
2. kernel-i586-up-1GB-2.6.12.12mdk
Wich one I have to chose?
Thanks

This printer never made it to any other markets than Japan and East Asia, it seems, and it's not supported even by the usual Canon commercial buddy (Turboprint).
Yes, I know, I just asked because win XP has driver for it. For this it's a little frustrating for me every time when I have to print something I must restart in Win.

Hi there. I'm connected with my computer in a win network and I want to use a network printer. The printer is CANON LBP 1820. I installed CUPS but I cannot found a driver for this printer in printer's drivers list. Finally I found a driver for this printer on CANON's web page http://cweb.canon.jp/drv-upd/lasershot/linux/lips4linux.html. It's a RPM package. I installed and now I don't know what to do next. I use Mandriva2006 and I tried from Mandriva Control Center to install the printer but I couldn't do it. Can anyone help me to continue. Thanx

Choose no framebuffer for the loader,
Sorry, I don't know how to do this. Can you explain me a little.

Does anyone know how to remove the Mandriva logo from the console screen? When a session starts on the right-down of the screen there is a logo. It's cool but sometimes is annoying. Thanx
