For what it's worth, I updated my kernel to 2.6.3-15, but the monitor still doesn't turn off.

I've had the same problem since I got 10 oe. I was pretty sure it worked before, and now that you asked your question, I'm positive it did. I don't have any answers. Just wanted you to know you're not alone.

If I've already done a network install, do I need the isos?

I'm not entirely sure why, but you have to add the / before the linux directory...
So in your case,
FTP Server: ftp.esat.net
Mandrake Linux Directory: /pub/linux/mandrakelinux/official/10.0/i586

Sure enough, the initrd is a symlink. Maybe Mandrake is just trying to make an easy out for people who upgrade their kernel. Or maybe they intended to make 2.6.3-8 the default kernel, but never got that far.

I don't know if it makes any difference, (I'm kind of a noobie if you couldn't tell,) but the 263-7 entry does use a different initrd than the default one. Unless that's a symlink too. I haven't checked.

I'm glad Ral asked, since that's what I'm here for. I thought 263-7 was the default kernal anyway. What does selecting 263-7 in lilo do differently?
Also, how can I add other kernels? I'm having trouble with my 10.0 installation, and I'm wondering if I could try booting into an older kernel. I know how to install using a bootdisk for another kernel, but how do I add one after it's installed?
Random freezing

This is what I thought when I had a bad memory module a couple months ago. Every diagnostic I tried said the memory was fine except MemTest86+. If I remember correctly, test five (whatever that is) kept failing, so I replaced the module. I haven't had a freeze-up since.
I know there are lots of possible hardware problems, but I recommend letting this program run for at least a few hours. (It runs from a boot diskette.)
