Who uses system-sounds in Gnome? It is so Window-ish... :P
ex-kde users that come to the better DE...... (/me puts on flame resistant suite.)

[justin@echelon ~]$ cat /etc/fedora-release Fedora release 7 (Moonshine)
and
[justin@comatose ~]$ cat /etc/fedora-release Fedora release 7 (Moonshine)
Of course B)

Yes, it was me. Currently I am writing this from my RHEL/StartCom AS5 distro and this distro is just the opposite to mystis Gentoo. Absolutely nothing, really absolutely nothing (!) ever breaks here. And I wait for security fixes and bugfixes but none are there. It is somehow intimidating, amazing and boring to have such a stable box. But it is great in case your other distros break, so you have always one fall-back option available. :)
CentOS 5 x86_64 on my laptop and on a hd on another box. Rock solid! ;)
That being said, I have gentoo on another hd too and it is fun to use sometimes too.

Thanks, the last time I checked I was running a beta of 4.0 with gnome packages from experimental repo and they didn't work so well :)
-
Does lenny have Gnome 2.18 in it?
-
Good release, except suspend worked and didn't work over and over through beta and final was released with NO WORKY, that is my only complaint.
I like things like this too.
sudo aptitude install netbeans5.5-platform netbeans5.5-doc netbeans5.5
These are pretty good, some of the performance things don't work, but some things are good settings.

F7t3 is out :) Test it while it is hot.

It rocks like usual...

Cool, I'll have to try this on my fedora rawhide laptop.
-
Well said.
I played in ubuntu for a couple months again, and it just left not such a good taste for me, just different things I didn't like. Whilst I'm not a big fan of the way they did sudo, that wasn't my biggest problem.
Heck, I'm getting bored with everything again, so I went back to Gentoo a few weeks ago on my 2 main box's. Easier to play with more options ;)

Ubuntu will become the de facto linux standard base.
Guess I wont be running the de facto.... B)

Once you get freshrpms repo installed, just:
yum install *\ipw3945\*
-
I like your wallpaper jlc. Where'd you find it?
-
-
Sorry I didn't see this sooner, I use FC6/ipw3945 from freshrpms the dkms packages, works good for me.

Using Gentoo and Mandriva jlc? /me faints
Mandriva, never ;) I haven't ran that in like 4 years... Gentoo sometimes.
-
Nice screenshots everyone. I need to come up with something for my Mandriva laptop. It's rather plain and ugly atm.
This ones for you.... ;)

Hmmmm.....I may give Ubuntu a try, though it's using Gnome. So many people can't get it wrong.....off to download Iso!
It's funny to go back to old post and see all the folks I got to change to something by posting a link when it was beta ;)

So it's you to blame that I went Ubuntu-holic :D
After that I also use Gnome big style...
Yeah, you can blame me too!
I"ve been using it again since about November too, typing on Fedora right now, but I like ubuntu a lot on my laptop.

My new OpenSuSe 10.2 desktop. One is a clean desktop, the other a busy desktop.
Looks evil ;)

We may have to ban you as a bad influence on the board. :P
Didn't I get you to switch to gentoo.....
