  1. Yes, it was me. Currently I am writing this from my RHEL/StartCom AS5 distro and this distro is just the opposite to mystis Gentoo. Absolutely nothing, really absolutely nothing (!) ever breaks here. And I wait for security fixes and bugfixes but none are there. It is somehow intimidating, amazing and boring to have such a stable box. But it is great in case your other distros break, so you have always one fall-back option available. :)

CentOS 5 x86_64 on my laptop and on a hd on another box. Rock solid! ;)

That being said, I have gentoo on another hd too and it is fun to use sometimes too.

  2. Good release, except suspend worked and didn't work over and over through beta and final was released with NO WORKY, that is my only complaint.

I like things like this too.

    sudo aptitude install netbeans5.5-platform netbeans5.5-doc netbeans5.5

These are pretty good, some of the performance things don't work, but some things are good settings.

  3. Well said.

I played in ubuntu for a couple months again, and it just left not such a good taste for me, just different things I didn't like. Whilst I'm not a big fan of the way they did sudo, that wasn't my biggest problem.

Heck, I'm getting bored with everything again, so I went back to Gentoo a few weeks ago on my 2 main box's. Easier to play with more options ;)

  4. Hmmmm.....I may give Ubuntu a try, though it's using Gnome. So many people can't get it wrong.....off to download Iso!

It's funny to go back to old post and see all the folks I got to change to something by posting a link when it was beta ;)

    ----2004----

So it's you to blame that I went Ubuntu-holic :D

After that I also use Gnome big style...

Yeah, you can blame me too!

I"ve been using it again since about November too, typing on Fedora right now, but I like ubuntu a lot on my laptop.
