it just stops scrolling, i thought i could wait it out but, i waited 30 mins and it still was the same.

i tryed messing with the bios and nothing seemed to work, what else should i try?

because there the only things i get ,all the msgs b4 that scroll way to fast for me to even glimpse at them edit:i went into the bios menu and tryed it with plug and play os off(defult was on) and same stuff, so i dont think thats the problem ian

1. redownload 10.2 - sucess 2. md4sums check -sucess 3. burn all cds at 16x -sucess 4. check for consistance on all -sucess 5. instalation through second cd drive -sucess 6. linux normal boot- failed(same errors) 7.boot from failsafe- failed(same errors) im up for any ideas you guys got, if you got time i can call you and we can do this over phone, or aim or yahoo or what ever you can, i realy want to get it aleat working by wednsday. thanks for all your support

ok when i get home ill reburn all the cds a d a slower speed, and ill install with the other cd rom. also i hvae no idea how to access this bios of the computer.

1 54x32x54 2 generic media cd rom seems to do the job

1. i dont even know what an irq is. 2. emachine 3.dont know what kind of mb, is there a prog that can tell me that or do i gota open 'er up?

i wont be able to try any solutions untill tomarrow at 3:30pm central time, but feel free to post any solutions because i shall read them at school and try them at home

i rebooted my comp,, when it ran it says that the iso's went listed in the checksum file

ok wow that prog u sent me worked untill i clicked verify then poped up a meg do i want to buy it now and not use trial i clicked no then it had a windows error(damn you, microsoft) and closed.

ok i tryed hitting alt+f1 and alt+f7 before grub loads and after and during the boot process, neither times did it do anyhting. i didnt do md5sum because i dont know how or even what that is. i have a knoppix 3.9 cd and if you want me to get on that we can talk on gaim on that or what ever you want. ill be on for about another 7 hours before i goto bed

i tryed that it says linux isnt a viable command

i booted to no avail the f1 buttonn dosent work. i went into the command line and typed boot linux noapic and alls i get it you have to load kernals first, which i have no idea seeing on how this is my first linux experience

humm i tryed what arctic said and f1 didnt work so i typed in c to goto the command line and typed it in and it said it wasnt a viable command. i dont realy get an erorr message its like it freezes up at this point and its always at the same point, i know its not the computer or the bootloader because it boots windows just fime, i tryed booting in failsafe but it dose the same thing ima boot right now and try to get this f1 to work... yea i switched to grub

im too impatient for this stuff bahh, i was hoping mandrake whould be easy and id have no problems, but i guess we all cant get what we want now can we, any other possible soultions? also how do i upgrade my bios?

humm, i should realy stick around to read these things. i reinstalled with grub but ill still try it

yea, its to late to choose what one to use kause i used iolo, but now heres the problem, when i choose to boot linux or failsafe, it flashes all its little loading msgs then comes to this message and stops. what should i do apm: Bios Version 1.2 flags 0x03 (dirver version 1.16ac)

ok so im about to install 10.2(lol) and i just want to know do i have to put it on my main hd or can i put it on my slave hd which is empty. and if i do put it on the slave will it still confure the grup or whatever dual boot?
