  1. downloaded 2007 last night, burned.. installed.. setup urpmi, sshd via installer and webmin via urpmi. now i've got this error in the software packages

Undefined subroutine &main::package_system called at /usr/libexec/webmin/software/index.cgi line 25.

everything else seems fine.. none of these errors are on any of the other webmin mods just packages.

prob urpmi didn't install something it needed. anyone have any idea what that could be ?

  2. Ok I kinda figured out my problem it was to do with the init load order..

network was geting started before pcmcia had a chance to load.

so what I have to do now is let the laptop load up log in as root stop the network service and start it again.

my new question is how can i rearange my init boot order to load the pcmcia first then start the network?

  3. To disable System/Configuration/Configure Your Computer/Boot/Boot Loader and then enable the option to disable apic, OK all screens, and reboot, and see if the network card starts to work.

um I kind of mentioned that I didn't install a gui so I'm working with vim & shell :) so a path and a file to edit would be great :)

there was a link between the routor and the card but since I pulled it out and atemped to place it back in it not light anymore so I'm asuming something is up with the pcmcia thing about watching the slot.. then again i did a format and a reinstall thinking it might have been something I miss configured but when i installed I only installed the basic 88mb so its running almost bare so I might have to install the pcmia manager but unsure about how to pull that off

  4. um I'm kinda confused as to why it seems when I setup the network info in the install setup it fails to connect to the net. I even tried to ping another local lan computer and I get

    connection: Network is unreachable

My PCMCIA card is ident as eth0 & when I run cardctl ident

    Socket 0:

    Product info: "3Com", "Megahertz 574B", "B", "001"

    Manfid: 0x0101, 0x0574

    Function: 6 (network)

any ideas as I didn't install a gui so I'm working with vim & shell

I can ping the localhost and get a reply but that just the lo

  5. I've got this laptop an Intell 233mhz with 80mb of memory & a 2.1 GB Hard Drive, now when I do text install I get a sync error and if I do linux I get a memory error and if I do a vglo i get a 50/50 error about sync and a kernel panic about not finishing. Now I was wondering if I could limit the amount of memory during the install of Mandrake 2006 i586

  6. what is the package to install that will auto install dependencies rather then going on a 30 hour search for missing packages that require 10 other packages installed so on and so forth as it becomes a greater hassle lol

I won't be installing a gui interface so if anyone has non gui command line based recomends?

  7. Alright here I go :)

I was using mandrake 9.2 a few years ago and was wondering if the o/s speed is the same in 10.1 or has it declined ?

I was using 9.2 for a web server with

apache, php, perl, asp, cgi & mysql and it ran great! pross web data extreme fast

I guess it maters 2 based on the kernel then again its been a while since i've used mandrake :)
