  1. well i fixed the problem, turns out this is a sound error, but in any case i modified the config file so that sound/music = #f for false and supertux now runs, so i went to options and re-enabled the sound/music (in game) and it works fine, so i closed it, re-ran it... works fine... sooo weird, all i really did was manually modify the config to disable sound, then enable it from the game menu... :S well w/e, i won't argue with results... go supertux!! :D

  2. HMM, apparently my post was moved lol.. god im tired, anyways like 3 threads below is another supertux thread, however it DOES NOT fix my problem... i made that config file and now it can read it but still crashes:

    Datadir: /usr/share/games/supertux
    Warning: No joysticks are available.
Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)

  3. Ya, what gives!? this is a fresh install and all i have done is:

    1. install nvidia drivers

    2. install java

    3. install cedega

    4. tried to play supertux :( (FAILED)

it just starts loading then goes to change the resolution and what not, but then ends up back at the desktop, ALL the other games work except supertux.. :(

  4. In the generic section of the monitor list you can find all generic flat panels, choose the one with the correct resolution and you'll be fine, you don't need to bother about the refresh rates, they will be configured correctly

as scarecrow said already 60 Hz is sufficient for a LCD

like i said above, and i guess have to say again, their ISN'T a selection for 1024x768 @ 75hz, there is 70/74/76... Also, i dont know much about lcd's but my screen is blurry at 60/70, it is only clear at 75hz... does that mean it needs repairs? this stupid thing is brand new so i have 3 yr warranty left on it, it's blurry in windows too @ 60/70hz, should i RMA it?

  5. im running Mandriva 2006 official, i HAD it working @ 75hz, but i chaged my video card, so since i had nothing to lose i just did a fresh install, installed my nvidia drivers, and still no go.. Why don't they have a 1024x768 @ 75hz LCD as an option? :| like there is, 70/74/76/86 all these weird ones.. but not 75 which i have seen is standard. Can anyone help me? i tried setting it to "50-75" vertical refresh in the xf86 config using "vi", also i have set "50-70" using configure hardware wizard and customizing my display. Someone please help me :)

  6. bump, ok mouse scroll doesnt entirely not work, but instead of scrolling the page it will scroll thru page history back and forth, also it still isnt booting into init 5 (kde) on its own which isnt a huge deal, but little things tend to bother me and ESPECIALLY the mouse thing, havent had to manually scroll since Win95/98 days *shutters*...

  7. Don't use Mandy's nvidia driver... it screws things here as well.

But first, try re-installing it with X not running... this is the only correct way to install nvidia's display driver.

Try the native nvidia one, which needs just a slight /etc/X11/xorg.conf editing and works very well.

native driver? just the general FX driver? hmm, it doesnt work good for me? i get only like 300fps in glxgears using it, now i get 33-3800 fps in glxgears but thats still not close to enough.

  8. NVIDIA: dependency problems. Read the faqs for urpmi. Add main, contrig and the plfs as repositories and try again.

Java: what have you done till now? If you want you can install java with urpmi (mcnl has it) urpmi.addmedia mcnl http://www.mandrakeclub.nl/sources/official/10.2/i586 with hdlist.cz

Java: installed the rpm from www.java.com then proceeded to copy the plugin

    # su

    # pwd

    # cd /

    # cd usr/lib/firefox/plugins

    # ln -s /usr/java/jre1.5.0_02/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so

then i restart firefox and still nothing :(
