Ok ian,
I think I need to clean up first.
Delete in mcc ra0
delete alias wlan0 rt2500
delete ifcfg-ra0
What more do I need to clean??

Ian,
I bought another card 'Linksys Wireless G model WPC54G' This on the compatible mdv 2006 list
I start to doubt we will get the belkin to work. I think you use Linksys, right?
I will not try this card before we have given up on the belkin.
Ian,
"I presume the lsmod, still shows rt2550 as loaded."
yes the rt2500 is still loaded in lsmod.

This is the content of modprobe.preload:
ndsiwrapper
nvram

The question 'remove the regular file "ifcfg-ra0"' confuse me. Is there unregural file with the same name or is it part of linux safety that this file is important and you should know what you are doing.
I reboot now with the card inserted.
-
Thank's Ian,
In modprobe.conf I have only 'alias wlan0 ndiswrapper' NO 'alias ra0 rt2500'
I will delete 'ifcfg-ra0' and then boot.
I will keep you posted.
-
Qchem,
I can only find that some parameters can be set in configure module for the Ralink.
I did not see a general way to turn off all hardware detection.
maybe somebody else have a tip
-
Yes, you right It doesn't survive a boot.
-
How about delete ra0 in mcc?????
-
When I reinsert the card the rt2500 come back.

ra0 is the pcmcia card in the notebook which have IP 10.0.0.4 not 10.0.0.6. Could it be that this IP 10.0.0.6 is the static address to the Access Point or....???? Otherwise it indicates that card is recognized and Ok.
The have only 2 lights Lan and Radio. Could it be that this lights do not reflect if the card is recognized by the notebook????

I start to wonder about the AP I have. It's a Belkin Travel router with 3 functions: router, adapter and Access Point trough a switch for the tree functions. It's not a dedicated AP. Any idee/comment on this?????
Lastly, here is dmesg for insert the card on a running notebook:
ndiswrapper: driver rt2500 (Ralink Technology, Inc.,06/10/2004, 2.02.06.0000) loadedPCI: Enabling device 0000:05:00.0 (0000 -> 0002)

I must say I am confused about this 'ra0' versus 'wlan0' and the eventual conflict.
Any new idee's from the forum. I am in, all over my head.

Ian,
It's night here.
Can we contiue tomorrow

before I do iwconfig and before I do alias wlan0 ndiswrapper
I hav e
alias ra0 ndiswrapper in modprobe.conf.
Should I remove alias ra0 ndiswrapper first????

rt2500 is not listed in /etc/modprobe.preload
ndiswrapper is listed

here is the whole lsmod

When I first got this card I do as usual just put the card in because often it just work.
The reason I am saying that is the 'ra0' just turned up.
After I start working on this ndiswrapper ting it keept on with the ra0.
perhaps it should actually be 'wlan0' Just a tought.

Ian,
As far as I understand the following is the proof that my card and driver is OK:
ndiswrapper: driver rt2500 (Ralink Technology, Inc.,06/10/2004, 2.02.06.0000) loadedPCI: Enabling device 0000:05:00.0 (0000 -> 0002)

wlan0: encryption modes supported: WEP; TKIP with WPA; AES/CCMP with WPA
My monitor (lover right screen) show ra0 connected.
I think we are very close
I don't know what to put in the mcc for which now show up in internet setup

What should I change it to?????

Hello Guys,
I have put the Belkin card "on ice".
I have bought a linksys PCI bus card and a linksys Access point.
Which I believe I have more luck with.
Since I still have some issues I wonder if it is better to start a new post instead of continue her. What do the moderator say about that????
