  3. Good thing first. I downloaded the kernel-source-2.6-2.6.8.1-12mdk.i586.rpm from the site given by mtriley98 and then I was able to install the nVidia driver. I installed it with help from this HowTO http://www.mandrakeusers.org/index.php?showtopic=4567 And everey thing seemed to be fine. I rebooted my computer and now I see the nVidia logo when I start up my computer. But now there is a bigger problem. When I log into mdk it hangs. After a while it just hangs. I am able to move the mouse curser but nothing happens when I push bottoms. There is no movement on the screen unless my mouse curser. What can I do?? I really appreciate that there is people who wants to help noobs like me.

  9. Hi I am kind of new in the linux words so please explain so I understand. I'm using Madrake 10.1 My problem is when I select Linux from the bootmenu when I start the comp, it goes through the startup procedure and after it finishes it goes straight to a plain blue screen. I cant figure out how to get it off the plain blue screen, the pointer doesn’t show and none of the keys I hit do anything... its just a plain wall of blue. Is there anything I can do or do I have to reinstall mandrake 10.1 hope some one can help me.
  10. Hey. I have two harddisk, one where I have installed WinXP, and another where I have just installed Mandrake 10.1. Another thing is how can I remove some of the other options so I only can choose linux and windows when I start op my computer. Hope someone can help me :D

My computer is a Athlon 1700+ AsRock K7S8X Two hardisk one a Maxtor 120BG ATA133 where I have installed winxp and then a old ATA66 12BG where I want to run mandrake. My problem is when I try to install mankrake in hangs. After a while I get to the point where I can se a screen that says “welcome to mandrakelinux (10.1)” and I can push <Alt-F3> to se the logs, and <Alt-F4> for kernel msg. If I go into <Alt-F3> it says *warning, insmod failed (keybdev (null)) (2) *AUTOMATIC: parameter cdrom for method means returning CDROM drive *have to insmod ide-cd *needs cdrom *need ide-cd If I go into <Alt-F4> it says <6>ide-cd: cmd 0x25 time out <4>hdc: lost interrupt <4>hdc: lost interrupt <4>hdc: lost interrupt And then this continues…. Home some can help me…. I have heard that hda is my first hardisk and hdb is the second and so on but why does it look for hdc and hdd if I only have 2 hardisks?
