  5. Hey all. hope someone can help me.

I just installed madriva LE 2005 64-bit on my machine. I got it up and runnig and everything worked fine. Then I wanted to create a fat32 partition so I had a patition that I could read and write on in mandriva and winXP. So I intered windows and split up one partition into to.

Now then I start mandriva there is an error. it says.

    fsck.ext/dev/hda7:

The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else,) then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:

    e2fsck -b8193 <device>

: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/hda7

Failed to check filesystem. Do you want to repair the errors? (Y/N)

    (Beware, you can lose data)

"then I type Y, and it says"

Couldn't find ext2 superblock, trying backup blocks...

    e2fsck 1.36 (05-Feb-2005)

  6. Hey.

    I just installed mandriva linited edition 2005 10.2 64-bit

Now I want to install a Nvidia driver but it says that I need to install the kernel.

I have tryed to install a Nvidia driver once before but that was on a 32-bit machine.

I have surfed the internet to find a 64-bit kernel but I can't find it anywhere.

    When I type “uname –a” I get

    “Linux localhost 2.6.11-6mdk #1 Tue Mar 22 10:20:32 EST 2005 x86_64 AMD Athlon ™ 64 Processor 3200+ unknown GNU/Linux”

So my question is where I can find a kernel so I can install my Nvidia driver???

kan someone please post a link???

  9. OK now it works

I typed Option ”NvAGP” ”3” and now it dosn't hang

But now I have a new question. Because sometimes my screen goes black for like 2 seconds and then the black screen disapears again like nothing has happend. Do you know what could be? This is not somethings that has happend after I typed ”NvAGP” ”3” it has done that the hole time.

  10. To VeeDubb.

I get the nVidia logo just before the desktop loads.

The nVidia driver name is "NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7174-pkg1.run"

Also when I type startx it just goes into the desktop inviroment and then after a while it hangs like always. And there is nothing to du than reboot the machine.

    To daniewicz.

I have looked at the Xorg.0.log but as far as I know I can not see there is any error in the file

    again thx for helping.
