OH well if i already installed can i modify it or do I have to reinstall??
because under mount it doesn't see the rest of my partitions its like they don't exist
and under kdisdfree it doesn't show it
I've tried mount /dev/hda2 /mnt/stuff but when transferring files its starts to run out of disk space which is impossible since I have like 80 GB free. Oh well I guess I'll look a little more and probably go back to mandy

LVM?
I have tried reinstalling but to no avail I read on the forums that the next release candidate will have customize partitioning on it. But when it comes out is yet to be determined if too long I might go back to mandrake

Ok just a quick question I installed Yoper thought I would enjoy it BUT....... when trying to partition my harddrive into opt, usr, var, root, home and stuff yoper doesn't recognize all the partitions and crams everything in my root partition, does anyone have any ideas??? I subscribed to the user board and I haven't gotten a login yet anyhow lemme know if anyone has any ideas
-
Yoper is integrated with portage now, but I haven't gotten to install it yet maybe this afternoon
-
Well I've tried Gentoo, Suse, and Mandrake I figured it was about time for a different distro so I've chosen Yoper does anyone have any thoughts about it.
NOTE: There is nothing wrong with the other distros I like them very much but I'm just in an experimental stage. Soon ezroller is giving a older Mac and I will be installing Yellow Dog just to see what it's like
-
Gentoo does test your patience but nothing a drink and a cigarette can't fix. I personally like Gentoo although I have taken a break from getting some of the things to work. Good luck and if you need any help by all means please ask and if I can help I will although I'm not that far ahead of you 8)

I am noob and without cyberjackles help i would have never gotten through my gentoo install it took me quite a while
that being said I LOVE Gentoo and the X configuration was not too difficult for me....on the other hand my zip drive still doesn't work but no biggie i'll figure that out later
I say install X from scratch it's more fun

mount /dev/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom
mount: you must specify the filesystem type
-
mount /mnt/cdrom
mount: mount point /mnt/cdrom does not exist

I looked in my fstab and saw::
/dev/hda1 /boot ext2 noauto,noatime 1 1
/dev/hda3 / reiserfs notail 0 0
/dev/hda2 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/hda5 /usr reiserfs notail 0 0
/dev/hda6 /var reiserfs notail 0 0
/dev/hda7 /home reiserfs notail 0 0
/dev/hda8 /opt reiserfs notail 0 0
/dev/hda9 /stuff reiserfs notail 0 0
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,ro 0 0
/dev/cdroms/cdrom1 /mnt/cdrom1 iso9660 noauto,users 0 0

/dev/root 3.0G 1.8G 1.2G 61% /
It didn't wipe them it simply doesn't see any other partitions I've gotten on a contact list and i'm e-mailling the developers to see whats going on..
Still at a stand still though :)
