WilliamS
...found the reason why, according to a post at: http://www.juhttp://www.justlinux.com/foru...ghlight=apcupsd This program only works in mdk with a serial cable. The one in the box is usb.
WilliamS
Best solution: Get the serial cable. Free! From APC. Install apc's ssd software.
abrooks29
Maybe a little late, but according to the apcupsd project page http://www.apcupsd.com/index.html ,it says it supports usb ups. I have 3 apc ups and they are all serial connections so I don't know for sure.
WilliamS
True, and I finally got it to work, only to find that the author had not finished the job. While it stops all running processes, it did not do a complet shutdown  The latest version probably fixes that, but not yet packaged for use by Mandrake AFAIK. :(
