iphitus
I want to use my /home partition in mandrake and debian it worked with LFS and Mandrake, but it isn't working with debian. I am called james on both systems. What can I do? I am unable to write, it's like i don't have permissions. what do I do? James
Glitz
Check to make sure the user NUMBER and group NUMBER are the same on both systems. The system will take a user name and look up the number assigned to that name. The same for the group, although the groups are more standardized. Therefore, you may be james on both systems but on one system james may map to user 501 whereas james on the second system may map to user 1001. Good luck, Glitz. polemicz
Mandrake starts user id's at 501, Debian at 1000. This will be a problem.
tyme
you can still give your user a group number of your choosing in either. might be easier to change it in mandrake (with userdrake and all).
