Guest Jhae
Hello fellow Mandrivians! I have recently decided to break my MS addiction and try Linux. I just finished setting up Mandriva 2008 Spring on my second laptop partition and it seems to be working pretty well thus far. One thing I did notice, and I'm not sure if this is only since installing updates, is that when i reboot Mandriva (or boot the laptop from off) it takes 2 tries for the OS to boot up. When i boot in verbose mode, it notifies me that the HDV2 did not unmount cleanly check forced. When i shut down in verbose mode, I do notice a few failed actions, both pertain to 'Stopping Fuse'. Now, once the first initial failed boot happens and it reboots, the os will boot perfectly fine until the next time i decide to reboot or shut down. My only real issue is that my laptop is a dual boot XP/Mandriva (Yes yes, junky needs his fix) with XP being the primary boot OS so if i don't pay attention to the failed first boot, it will jump in to XP upon the 2nd attempt. I know I could just set Mandriva as the primary OS and not have that problem, but I'd like to address the reason it is failing in the first place. Any input would be greatly appreciated. (Feel free to use monosyllabic words as i am still just barely linux literate.)
daniewicz
Welcome to the board! B) The first thing I would suggest is looking through the file /var/log/messages for any error messages. If you post the error message(s) here, we can help.
