It appears that your problem is JACK. I'm not familiar with this (LIVES) program, but have you tried to open it and select another audio output besides JACK?

If that is not possible, then I would suggest opening a terminal and run

killall jackd

then try to start LIVES again. Does this work?

Welcome to the board! :)

I've had some time this morning to look at this. If you are using Mandriva Spring (2008.1), open your menu editor and change the LiVES command line to

pasuspender lives

it will open and work without any problems for you. :)

Instal Lives from smart from console.

Type as root

smart install lives

Run Lives first and select SOX not JACK, good luck .....Lex
