Guest LinuxLiker
Hello: I've just installed Mandriva 2006 and I really, really want to add some podcatching software but I'm running into dead ends trying to install it. I've tried castpodder (formerly ipodder), jpodder and kpodder. None of them seem to want to install in Mandriva. (I had Mandrake 9.2 before that and couldn't get them to install either, leading me to update to Mandriva). I just found a seemingly new release on the Mandriva Club site (vdr plugin-podcatcher-0.1.1-5mdv2007.0rpm for x86-64) but I can't pay $66 for a membership right now. (Besides, I thought the point of Linux was being able to enjoy computers even if you don't have a lot of money). Have I missed something? Is there and rpm out there that Mandriva will install without much trouble. Is there a pain-free way to add podcatching software besides using a binary? (So far, I'm no good at loading tar archives). Thanks for the help. ;)
SoulSe
How are you trying to install the software? The best way would be to use urpmi. First, go here and configure your repositories. Then, I'm sure, something like this: # urpmi castpodder should work ;)
