I am trying to use acidrip to rip and encode two of my dvds into xvid with subtitles. When I start the the 2pass encode I immediately get this:

AcidRip message - Pushed events onto queue

AcidRip message - Playlist contains 4 item(s)

AcidRip message - Running unlink frameno.avi 2> /dev/null

AcidRip message - Removing frameno.avi if it exists

AcidRip message - Running mencoder dvd://25 -dvd-device /dev/dvd -chapter 1-1 -alang English -sid 0 -vobsubout /home/user1/brother -info srcform="DVD ripped by acidrip.sf.net" -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:br=128 -ovc xvid -xvidencopts :bitrate=5000:pass=1 -vf pp=de,crop=688:320:14:78,scale=480:-2 -o "/dev/null"

I don't know what this is about CPU runtime detection.

I am using mandriva 2006 2.6.12-22mdk

I got my packages from urpmi:

acidrip-0.14-2mdk

mplayer-1.0-1.pre7.20051220.0.1.20060plf

mencoder-1.0-1.pre7.20051220.0.1.20060plf

I seem to remember having run into this problem in the past but I can't remember if I fixed it or just forgot about it. Any help would be great. Thanks!

this is apparently a problem with mplayer/mencoder - the only solution i can find is to get more recent copy of mplayer/mencoder - which you may have to get from cvs. the only other option i know of is to use 1pass instead of 2pass.

I have the same problem. i downloaded the mplayer source and did a ./config. it gives me a no for Xvid. is there some special commands to get it to find the Xvid codecs? not sure where to go from here. mandriva 2008 is good but i prefer 2007. it played m4a and Acidrip worked out of the box.

just read the fine print. when i did the ./configure it said if features were disabled try installing the development packages. i installed the Xvid-devel package and Xvid was included in the features this time
