"Cannot install Xorg package"

Oh well. Having removed the CD drive as a source and being unable to get the snutting internet to do whatever it is it does I decided no way out, got out the 32 bit version of the DVD and lobbed it into the drive and rebooted.

 

It's just loaded perfectly, no problem with X or anything...

 

...except I got some kind of message that my backups might be screwed up, whatever that means. If it crops up again I'll copy it and post it on here, but meanwhile, why did the 32 bit DVD work when the 64 bit one didn't? I hope I've not been fobbed off with a 32 bit chip cunningly disguised as a 64 dual core...

This came up 9 times before I cleared it. I have no idea if this is a new problem (If indeed it is a problem. The only thing I haven't been able to do so far is play content from the BBC) or a continuation of the one that kicked off this thread. Anyone know what I have to do to find out what it specifically refers to and/or what I have to do to clear it?
