Guest robgenna
Hi everybody, I'm a new user of this group, and a new Post Script student, too. I'm learning how to program with PS, especially how to draw graphics and functions. For this reason I use Ghost Script everyday, but I use both Windows and Linux and, with the last one and GS I have some problems. Actually, in MS Windows everytime I start GS I see a terminal window and a graphic window, where I can see how the graphic commands act, although in Mandriva Linux, if I run gs from the linux prompt in a kde terminal, I only see the GS prompt but the graphic window is Not displayed!! I really need this last one but how can I make it appear in Linux?! (Note: using SuSe Linux the 2 windows both appear!!!!) Hoping somebody will reply me as soon as possible, I wanna thank you all for the time you have given me. See you, Roberto (Italy)
aRTee
If I read man ps (you can use konqueror with man:ps as url) I get the impression that there's no window to display anything; the device has to be properly defined; not sure how to get output into a window... chalex20
You do it like this gs -sDEVICE=x11alpha or like this gs -sDEVICE=x11
aRTee
the command to view a file should be: gs -sDEVICE=x11 [filename.ps] and to just start the program with an output window: gs -sDEVICE=x11 enjoy Linux, Rob Darn, too late!! :D Edited November 17, 2005 by aRTee
