rg.oliveira
I have Mandriva LE 2005 instaled in my machine and the sound is OK. But I have notice that when I use applications with sound like Kaffeine (DVD) and after that I try to use the game Unreal Tournament, it doens´t have any sound. What it could be? pmpatrick
I've noticed just the opposite with ut2003 and ut2004; if I run either, sound won't work in other kde audio apps for a few minutes afterwards. Also, if I try to relaunch ut right after closing ut, I get no sound in ut. Gnome based apps seem less effected. I'm fairly sure it's something with kde's "arts" sound system; it seems like arts holds on to /dev/dsp and won't let nything else use it for a few minutes as far as ut200* is concerned. IIRC there used to be a way to launch ut from the command line with a certain command switch that got around that problem. I think it was: $ artsdsp ut2004 but that doesn't seem to work for me. I get no sound with the above and this error message: $ artsdsp ut2004 WARNING: ALC_EXT_capture is subject to change! Rather than fool around with it any further, I just wait the few minutes.
