lets-eat-gary
Hi people I have just installed Mandriva 2005 LE. In previous versions of mandrake I have always recompiled the source RPM as described here :- http://mandrakeusers.org/index.php?showtopic=4596&hl=srpm. I normally did a recompile when a kernel update was released. I have just tried by getting the source rpm for the kernel that comes with Mandriva 2005 (kernel-2.6.11.6mdk-1-1mdk.src.rpm). When I goto install the athlon-kernel I get the messages that there are conflicts, I assume that is because I am trying to install a kernel with the same version number. Has anyone got any ideas? Guest Adriano1
Normally you change a string in the kernel's makefile so instead of being "kernel-2.6.11.6mdk" you have "kernel-2.6.11.6leg" for example.
lets-eat-gary
Hi Adriano. Thank you for that. How would I change the makefile if I am recompiling using the rpm --rebuild --target YOUR_ARCH kernel.VERSION.src.rpm command. Should I install the RPM 1st? Any info would be good. cheers
