Guest fredand44
Hello! I have installed Mandrake 10.1 and Kaffeine is included in that package. But I can not play wmv-files with kaffeine. I guess that I need some extra plug-in or lib to be able to play wmv-files. I have searched the internet but I have only find something that I need to compile. I know nothing about compiling source code what so ever! "make"-command doesn't say me anything. Where should i write this? So if any one got som other solution for me please let me know. Isn't there any files just to download and put somewhere or to install in some easy way to make this possible. If there isn't any precompiled package so the only way is to compile. Please go easy and if you got the time I would love to get some step by step instructions. What to download exactly and what to write in the console. Please let me know! Best regards Fredrik Ps to save harddrive space I would like to use Kaffeine, not MPlayer.
spinynorman
According to the Kaffeine website, you need to download the latest win32 codecpack from www.mplayerhq.hu and install it in /usr/lib/win32. Don't be put off by the 'Closed for patent infringement' message on the first page. Oh, and welcome to the board. :)
Guest fredand44
Hello! Thanks for your very fast reply! But what do you mean by "install"? I have download the win32 package, extact it and put it in /usr/lib/win32. Should I do something more? Best regards Fredrik
spinynorman
I don't use it, but perhaps there's a configuration option in Kaffeine where you 'install' the plugin?
Guest fredand44
Hello! Perhaps it is som config that must be set correct. But do you agree with me when I say that "Install" is eqauls to: 1) download the win32 package 2) extact it 3) put it in /usr/lib/win32. ...? Guest thick_guy_9
yes, you will have to extract to that folder - that is what install means... Use fole-roller or arK of some such GUI to help you...
