Konqueror won't start after fresh install [solved]

The problem started when I tried to mount /home at a firewire disk: Mandrake said it had problems accessing it, so I decided not to dig more about it and return to my previous configuration (all the filesystem in a 'normal' IDE partition).

I reinstalled 10.1 and after rebooting the desktop comes with only two incons (home and welcome) and with this problem: I can't open home or any instance of konqueror. Neither can get into 'system configuration'.

I have tried formatting the disk and installing; even deleting the partition and installing again... nothing.

Any ideas? Thank you

(As you may have guessed, I am an absolute newbie: if more info is needed just tell me. I have 2 IDE and 2 firewire, with several windows partitions -FAT- and one Ext3 where I am installing 10.1)

Solved:  the disk was damaged.  New disk->no problems

Anyway thank you to those of you who read the post.

I seriously doubt that your disk was damaged. The konqueror issue is a documented error with a documented fix. Simply do your updates after installation. If you are still convinced that your disk is damaged, feel free to send it to me for "service".
