Guest rothmans
absolute beginner here! hey all, I've just completed an installation of Mandrake 10.1 Official (purchased cd's) onto my: Seanix TCO 333MHz P-II 320 mb SDRAM 6.4gb WD HDD Nvidia Velocity 128VBX AGP SoundBlaster16 (to be configured once Mandrake gets running if ever) now Mandrake is the only OS on this comp so there are no possible conflicts there, however I am stuck at the Localhost login and using the 'startx' option does not work, it only prompts me to provide a password for that one too! I've tried the lowercase for 'startx' and the UPPERCASE 'STARTX' both to no avail. is there another way around this other than the 'startx' option? note: along the way during the installation when prompted I completed the following: 1) Security Administrator (Login or Email ) - I provided my email here. 2) root password - xxxxxxxxxxx. 3) Real Name : Ron Fisher Login Name : ron Password : xxxxxxxxxxx please am going nuts here! adamw
alsaconf would be the best thing to use I think, it should set up an old ISA device like that successfully.
