vasim
Hello, I need help on something I want to install Gnome 2.8 from tarballs to my Mandrake 10 Official edition I found the tarballs to a magazine's DVD. I tried to use Garnome but it tries to download the files something that is odd to me because I already have the files. ?Is there any solutions? Thanks in advance vasim
adamw
Best solution: wait a few weeks and install MDK 10.2, which has GNOME 2.8. Second best solution: use Goetz Waschk's 2.8 packages for MDK 10.1. Unfortunately, he seems to have taken these down. Anyone know if they're still available somewhere? Third best solution: read the garnome documentation and find out how to reconfigure it so that it knows you already have the tarballs. Alternatively, try jhbuild. But really, this probably isn't something you want to suffer through doing. GNOME 2.8 isn't so much better than 2.6.
