junglejuice
I know that mandrake move is a live distro but I would like to know if it is possible to actually install it? It is just that it runs on my laptop really well and 10 or 10.1 does not run at all very well. I have seen a mention of being able to install knoppix to hard drive in a magazine so I was wondering if the same could be done with move? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.... Cheers, Jungle... adamw
No, there isn't. The latest version of MandrakeMove (just called Move) is mostly equivalent to Mandrake 10. The first version was mostly equivalent to 9.2. It's odd that Move works for 10.0 doesn't for you; could you give more information on the problems you have with 10.0? junglejuice
The problem is with my acer laptop, both versions of move work fine as does knoppix, and xandros but anything after 9.2mdk or any of the redhat/ fedora distros wont go nor will debian. The problem seems to be with the video with 10.1or and with 10.1ce it seems to be the usb/firewire seems to be a problem, and considering that I use usb a lot that is a problem for me. I believe it to be a pre-compiled kernel issue but as a newbie I have no iea how to recompile a new kernal to allow it to install correctly. It just seems strange that the live ones run and not the install versions. I could use 9.2 at a pinch but then I get dramas with using the touch pad or a mouse. it doesn't seem to like have the two connected at once..... With all these dramas it looks like I will be staying with the crooks from redmond for some time yet......
