kmc77
I have just installed Mplayer/Gmplayer on my newly broken in Ubuntu system, and I keep getting this error when I try to play avi's. ALSA lib control.c:654:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL /dev/mixer93% alsa-control: mixer attach /dev/mixer error: No such file or directory The avi plays and the sound plays, but this error box just sits there and rapidly flashes. I know this isn't a Ubuntu board, but I was hoping that since this is a problem with ALSA and gmplayer, someone might be able to help me find a solution. fissy
i had this problem as well - it still confused me. In the end i gave up and used OSS emulation. Sometime afterwards i changed back to alsa and it works again.

You can ask as many questions about Ubuntu as you like - as long as it's in Other Linux Distributions. B)

Yeah, I was considering puting this question in other distros, but since the question itself had nothing to do with Ubuntu and because Mplayer/ALSA aren't distro specific, I thought it would go best in software. But if this needs to be moved feel free.
