Kde won't start - SOLVED

I was going through my file system under KDE (Mandrake 10OE) and suddenly I started getting error messages that it couldn't open a directory, or the MCC. The error messages said something about a DCOP error, a communications error, and finally something about being out of memory (/tmp came up somewhere).

I rebooted and got dumped to command line, where I deleted the large amount of stuff from the wastebin (I'd done a backup and the previous backups were in there) and then rebooted again.

When I rebooted, at the point when kde would normally load (I have auto-login to KDE), I got a screen that was three-quaters blue, and the bottom right-hand corner was what looked like a console, with a command promp. Typing in "kde" got the response that the server was already active.

I did a backup just before things went pear-shaped, but I have no idea how to restore from the command line.

Please please please help!
