Hi All! Im somewhat of a noobie so please bear with me.

I recently learned te commands for sleeping my laptop:

echo 3 > /proc/acpi/sleep

and echo 4 > /proc/acpi/sleep

the problem is when I preform echo 3 sleep my computer will wake, but the screen will not turn on, so i must reboot, and when i preform an echo 4 sleep, my computer just turns off, it does not "hibernate". Any help with how i might go about fixing this would be great because I need a sleep function if I am going to switch from windows. Thanx for the help.
